I. God’s instruction in the Lord’s Prayer

10  Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven. (ESV)

A. What is the Kingdom of God?

a. We need to understand this prayer is also Jewish parallelism.
b. Hebrew language tends to say everything twice.
c. A thing is said the first way then it is repeated and amplified or explains the first way.
c. The psalms do this:
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.

The kingdom is in fact the most personal thing in the world. The kingdom demands the submission of my will, my heart, my life. It is only when each one of us makes a personal decision and submission that the kingdom comes.

II. The Kingdom

C. The Kingdom of the future

a. Jesus taught the disciples to pray for the coming of the kingdom in the Lord’s prayer.
They saw the Kingdom of God breaking in.
