1 John 5:21

What’s an Idol?

An idol is anything that has a place in our hearts where only God belongs.

Whatever we love most is our God.

Whatever we ask to bring us life is our God.

Only God is worthy of worship and brings life.

Why should we Guard?

We must be on guard because we are vulnerable.

We must be on guard because idols cannot deliver what they promise.

Idols only bring about further rebellion, hatred, and death.

Idols do not love you but are rooted in Satan’s work to steal, kill, and destroy.

How?

We are guarded from idols when we truly love God with all our hearts.

Remembering who God is and what He’s done only leads us to greater worship of Him.

We must be discerning about where our influences are leading us.
