Wedding   Sheila Tufte ~/ Chad Nutt
Texts: Eccl 3.1-8 Song Sol 2.10-13 John 15.9-12

Time for everything, and it finally is time for getting married

Ever imagine: 94 chad gets out of ca, greyhound, bag of clothes and a guitar, to ND in dead of winter, that in time you would find a home and a wife

Think of all the time it has taken to bring you to this day
lot of work getting ready for this wed?
saved a lot of time and trouble if you had only followed advice in the scripture from Song: "Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away!”

or if you had followed Chad’s suggestion:
Red crushed velvet tux, elvis impersonator
Take this woman as your hunka hunka burning love
If so, say, uh-huh

"Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away!”
maybe thinking of 1st time you met at the Windbreak: Sheila gazed into chad’s brown  eyes and thought: Arise, my love, my fair one …

when things going crazy, work, bills, etc.: "Arise, my love, my fair one, and let’s get away!”

tendency is to run, avoid: every married couple here knows will be moments when think: Arise… and GO AWAY!

romantic vision of the 2 of you skipping across the meadows w~/ flowers in your hair is one you will not be able to sustain – you will need something more: faithfulness, commitment,  responsibility, honesty

not even feelings of Love:
(to Chad) NOT feeling like she is hunka hunka burning love
(to Sheila) sometimes you’ll feel like a Nutt, sometimes you won’t

Love as an active verb..

John 15: This is my commandment, that you love one another…
With ever command from God is also a promise to help you fulfill that command: This is my commandment, that you love one another AS I HAVE LOVED YOU.

and reason why you can say:
"Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away!” bec as you do so, you know that steadfast love of Lord will always go w~/ you;
"Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away!” bec as you do so, know that God’s encouragement will give you the harmony and unity

"Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away!” bec as you do so, you know God’s love will uphold and sustain you wherever your life’s course may lead so that your joy may be full

Now truly is a time for rejoicing
And now it’s time to vow your LOVE for each other and get married.
Thanks be to God.

(Cant 2:10-13)  My beloved speaks and says to me: "Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away; {11} for now the winter is past, the rain is over and gone.
{12} The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
{13} The fig tree puts forth its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance.
Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
