Acts 2:41 ESV
41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

What is the meaning of Baptism?

Baptism is the public expression of personal faith in Christ.

Baptism is the public identification with the person of Christ.

Romans 6:3–5 ESV
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
Rom 6 3-5
That means only those who have personal faith express that faith in a public way.
That’s one of the reason we don’t baptise infants. Babies can’t express personal faith in Jesus Christ. Infants can’t repent and believe the gospel.

The Bible teaches that only believers in Christ are baptized.

Acts 2:41 ESV
41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

What is the method of baptism?

The word BAPTIZO means - To plunge under water, to immerse,
When it was used regarding ships it meant to sink. When it was used of people it often meant to drawn.
Immersion is widely acknowledged as the apostolic practice and the practice that most fully conveys what baptism is to display—our participation by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
