Often times we tend to come up with all the reasons in the world as to why we will not respect someone.
Examples :
I don’t like the person.
They do not Deserve it.
They do not Respect me why should I.
I am sure there are many more reasons why we chose to not respect someone. Have you ever thought that maybe your the person that does not deserve the respect. Ask your self do you know what Godly respect looks like, Throughout the Bible their are plenty of examples of what Respect is in the truest of forms and what we should show it.
Before you can expect to ever receive the respect that is Godly and true you have to learn to Respect Yourself and have to truly know what that mean exactly to have respect.

Respect Yourself

When God is asking for us to love and care for one and another we have to stop and realize that it starts with us loving and caring for ourselves. we can see through out the bible in passages where it says to take of our bodies.
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 CSB
Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price. So glorify God with your body.
How can we ever expect to see where God is moving in our lives if we don’t ever take care of ourselves? Has your body ever been sore and you just felt crummy the whole day. When that happens how likely are you going to be in a good mood. When your body does not feel good you are less likely to be on fire and excited of sharing the good new of Christ.
This passage here is talking about that exact thing . when you see some of these temples that these other faiths have they are pristine and clean. you wouldn't find one corner faded with paint or anything of the sort. Why is this? It has to do with them believe that their God dwells in there.
Our God gave us the Holy Spirit that lives in us. We need to take the time everyday to take care of our temple with it is physically or mental. Until we have they respect to take care of ourselves we will never have the care to respect anything or anyone.
When we finally have the decency to care about ourselves we then get to move on the respecting the church and having the care the way we treat God house.

Respect The Church

Often times we chose to pick and choose how we are going to respect the church whether it is the building or it is the people that come to be apart of it. but we are wrong know what the aspect we think of it. when you want to earn the respect of the God it starts to happen in the church when we take the time to show God how much you really care about the House of the Lord and the people that come in it.
Often time it is someone else will clean that up or I didn't make the mess why would I clean it. We have to Get out of that mindset be cause God Expects our best and we should be willing to give it to him.
Mark 11:15–17 CSB
They came to Jerusalem, and he went into the temple and began to throw out those buying and selling. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves, and would not permit anyone to carry goods through the temple. He was teaching them: “Is it not written, My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations? But you have made it a den of thieves!”
When the people of the temple started to disrespect the temple Jesus began to cast them out. When we defile the place of worship we tend to not care of others and throw them out. Nobody likes to feel like they are being disrespected.
The one thing we should focus on in this passage is the part where it say My house will be called a house of prayer for all Nations. Let’s look at this in the eyes of our modern days today question yourself is the manner in which you conduct yourself in the church the way you want others to respect the church. Does it show others they are welcome here or does it turn others away?
When we can understand that then we can start to get a tiny picture of what it is like to Respect God in the manner that he is asking to be respected.

Respect God

So now it is time to ask yourself are you acting in the manner that respects God if that answer is no now is the time to make that change.
one more passage and we will close.
1 Samuel 4:7–8 CSB
they panicked. “A god has entered their camp!” they said. “Woe to us, nothing like this has happened before. Woe to us, who will rescue us from these magnificent gods? These are the gods that slaughtered the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.
First let us focus that they understood that this was a God it may not have been their God that the Philistines believed in but it was a God and they were Afraid of him.
1 Samuel 5:1–2 CSB
After the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod, brought it into the temple of Dagon and placed it next to his statue.
This is were we should get a real Gut punch when thinking about how we show respect to our God. Here we see They didn't believe in our God but understood the importance so much that they put the ark of the Lord in the temple of the God they believed in.
So now is the time to Ask have you been respecting God in the way you should or have you faltered? do you trust in God now is the time to Fix your relationship with the one person that is willing to give us the grace to start over and over everyday and will never treat you different.
