Greetings…
Last month we began examining a series of lessons on what it means to be “Soldiers For Christ.”
As we noticed then we are in a fight between “good & evil” and we are in a “fight for faith.”
The reason God uses a soldier to demonstrate some expectations of His children is because of the many similarities between what soldiers here on earth do to prepare & fight for war and how the Lord’s army prepares and fights its spiritual war.
It’s these similarities that we will examine over the next several months on these 3rd Sundays starting with “Induction.”
Each year about 180,000 young Americans enlist into the armed forces.
After going through a battery of tests to determine if they qualify mentally and physically for service, they then give their perspective “Oath of Enlistment” whereby they are inducted into that military branch of service.
It’s this induction I want us to consider today but on a spiritual note.

When we confess Christ as “our Lord” we are making our “Oath of Enlistment” to Christ.
32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.
We are confessing we will do whatever it takes to follow the commands of our King.
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
33 So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

When baptized into Christ we formally are inducted or enlisted into the army of Christ.
26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

This means we must be fully invested in our mission to obey our King and love His creation.
