!TWO FACTS CONCERNING PRAYER:

1. God calls us to pray. - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

2. God acts on our prayers. - Philippians 4:6,7

a. God can bring us peace. - Philippians 4:6,7

b. God can meet our physical needs. - Matthew 6:33

c. God can save the lost. - John 17:1-3

FIVE INSTRUCTIONS CONCERNING PRAYER:

I. The Variety of Prayer. - v.18

A. "Prayer" refers to general requests.

B. "Supplication" refers to specific requests.

1) Adoration - Praising God for Who He is.

2) Confession - Agreeing with God about our sin.

3) Thanksgiving - Expressing gratitude for what God has done.

4) Intercession Praying for the needs of others.

5) Petition - Praying for our personal needs.

II. The Frequency of Prayer. L- v.18; Psalm 55:17

"Praying always with all prayer" means to live in continual God consciousness. - L- Colossians 3:2

III. The Power of Prayer. L- v.18; Romans 8:26,27

"In the Spirit" means God's Spirit is in control of us. II Corinthians 1:3,4

IV. The Manner of Prayer. L. v.18

"Being watchful" is being alert spiritually.

V. The Objects of Prayer. L- v.18

A. "All the Saints" refers to believers.

B. Our Enemies. L- Matthew 5:44

C. Everyone we know. L- Mark 12:31

CONCLUSION:

Q: How can we pray more?

A. 1) Have a daily prayer time.

A: 2) Join our 6:00 pm Prayer Team on Sundays.

A. 3) Commit at least 1 hour for our Prayer Room.
