“Knowing” in 1 John
2:3-5 Now by this we KNOW that we KNOW Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I KNOW Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we KNOW that we are in Him.
2:20-21 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you KNOW all things. I have not written to you because you do not KNOW the truth, but because you KNOW it, and that no lie is of the truth.
2:29 If you KNOW that He is righteous, you KNOW that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.
3:1-2 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not KNOW us, because it did not KNOW Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we KNOW that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
3:5-6 And you KNOW that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor KNOWN Him.
3:14-16 We KNOW that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you KNOW that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. By this we KNOW love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
3:19-20 And by this we KNOW that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and KNOWS all things.
3:24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we KNOW that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
4:2 By this you KNOW the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
4:6 We are of God. He who KNOWS God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we KNOW the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and KNOWS God. He who does not love does not KNOW God, for God is love.
4:13 By this we KNOW that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
4:16 And we have KNOWN and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
5:2 By this we KNOW that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
5:15 And if we KNOW that He hears us, whatever we ask, we KNOW that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
5:18 We KNOW that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.
5:19 We KNOW that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
5:20 And we KNOW that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may KNOW Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
