God Can Use Anyone For His Ends

Some on the bright side, some on the flip side
John 14:21-32

He Uses the Sent and Unsent

John 13:20–21 ESV
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.” After saying these things, Jesus was troubled in his spirit, and testified, “Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”

He Uses the Sent and Unsent

The Sent Ones are Ambassadors
Ambassadors of Christ
Ambassadors of God
The Unsent bring problems
On their own agenda
Creating distress
Becoming traitors

He Uses Best and Least

John 13:22–25 ESV
The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke. One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining at table at Jesus’ side, so Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus of whom he was speaking. So that disciple, leaning back against Jesus, said to him, “Lord, who is it?”

He Uses Best and Least

We may be unsure
The least one may be closest
The stronger may be set back
God will work
We don’t know how
Through whom

He Uses the Worst Enemy

John 13:26–27 ESV
Jesus answered, “It is he to whom I will give this morsel of bread when I have dipped it.” So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. Then after he had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.”

He Uses the Worst Enemy

We think we know the enemy
We focus on the human
God knows His enemy
Satan wants to accuse
Jesus is still in control

He Uses a Traitor to the Cause

John 13:28–30 ESV
Now no one at the table knew why he said this to him. Some thought that, because Judas had the moneybag, Jesus was telling him, “Buy what we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor. So, after receiving the morsel of bread, he immediately went out. And it was night.

He Uses a Traitor to the Cause

We miss the purpose of Jesus
We make up our own plot
We have good reasons
We don’t really know people
But Jesus knows our agendas
And still will use us

He Uses All For His Glory

John 13:31 ESV
When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

He Uses All For His Glory

There is glory in the plans of God
There is glory in the person of God
There is glory in the purposes of God
