Exodus 24:7-8 has the people ratifying an oath by taking the blood guilt on themselves. This act is a radical departure from previous and future covenants. The enforcement of this covenant is the punishment of the people. Thanks be to God, that when the better Moses, the Better Priest Christ Jesus came down from his mountain in Matthew 8, there was no shedding of blood. Rather, there was peace, healing, and restoration. Praise Jesus for his priestly role in a new and better covenant.
