Luke 6:27–38 NIV84
27 “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. 32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners,’ expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. 37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

We have to learn to hear the Lord. We started this preaching series three weeks ago. After church last week, Rabbi Roy, the owner of this building and Rabbi of Baruch Hashem, came up to me and said, “You should preach about abundance sometime.” I don’t think he knew our preaching series, but even if he did know, I believe that God used him to speak to me. Today, we will talk about abundance. However, I believe that abundance comes to a specific people—the generous.

1. Love is an act of faith that returns abundance

God loved us so much that He gave His Son to die for us.
One died for many (abundance)
Love covers a multitude of sins
Your love will bring many to Christ
Love the unloveable
The reward is in loving without expecting love in return
However, love will come back in abundance

2. Giving is an act of faith that returns abundance

Give to everyone that asks
Give your attention
Give your time
Give your talent
Give your treasure
Give without expecting anything in return
Give because Jesus commanded us to give

3. Obedience is an act of that returns abundance

The secret that is not so secret is obedience
Obedience opens the floodgates of abundance
Obey, not because you will receive a reward, but because you are submitted to Him
Luke 5:4–7 NIV84
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” 6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

Jesus was directing Peter “a fisherman” and telling him how to fish
Peter obeyed and abundance came
Peter did not see the point, but because Jesus told him to do it, he did
Peter was tired, but he still obeyed
John 21:4–6 NIV84
4 Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. 5 He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” “No,” they answered. 6 He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

This time Peter did not object (he learned a lesson)
Obedience does not require evidence of the results just submission

4. What you use will receive abundance

The measure you use will overflow in abundance
What are you using?
If you use a cup, the cup will overflow
If you use a gallon, the gallon will overflow
If you use a bucket, the bucket will overflow
If you use a tank, the tank will overflow
Whatever you use, God will exceed what you gave
Those who sow abundantly will reap an abundant harvest

5. Our God rewards faith in abundance

God is able to replenish what you gave with abundance
Ephesians 3:20 NKJV
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
He is still able
2 cor 9:
2 Corinthians 9:10–11 NIV84
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
He gave you the seed to begin with
Its time to sow what He gave you so that you can reap abundance
If you eat an apple that is all you get—an apple
If you sow an apple, you will get an apple tree and will have an abundance of apples
If what you have does not meet your needs and wants then its your seed
Don’t eat your seed, sow your seed
If what you have is not giving you the life God intended for you then it is your seed to that life
John 10:10 NKJV
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
The enemy takes from you
Jesus gives to you, He give in abundance
Abundance is for the Generous
Are you generous or greedy?
The greedy take, the generous gives (sows)
