Summary

When a person is in the childhood stage of spiritual development, he or she demonstrates unsteadiness, curiosity, a tendency to be concerned about the affairs of other people and talkativeness. It is important that we grow out of these things in order to come into spiritual maturity.

1. The body of Christ must become spiritually mature.
1. The fivefold ministry gifts (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers) are given to help bring the body of Christ into spiritual maturity so that Believers can do the work of the ministry
   (Ephesians 4:8-16).
2. You must grow up spiritually in order to do what God has called you to do.
   
   
2. Spiritual childhood is characterized by three types of behavior.
1. Unsteadiness
1. Children are unsteady.
2. Christians who are unsteady don't stick with the Word long enough to see results.
3. Become steady in your walk with God by remaining submitted to the Word and to your pastor and church.
2. Curiosity
1. Spiritually immature Christians are curious and tend to be concerned with other people's business rather than minding their own.
2. Mind your own business.
3. Talkativeness
1. Children are talkative and tend to be unwise with their words.
2. It is important to know how to be quiet; learn the value of silence.
3. When a person talks too much, there will be some type of sin in their words (Proverbs 10:19; Ecclesiastes 5:3).
1. Evil speaking-talking about people's shortcomings and failures when they are not around
2. Vain speaking-always talking about yourself
3. Foolish speaking (Ephesians 5:4)-crude jokes and shallow conversation that doesn't edify you or others
