5:1-14

Christ freed us by His grace (Vs 1)

·                     Stand firm……..στήκω (stēkō) (imperative, command)…… I Cor 16:13-14

·                     Don’t submit…(imperative, command, to come under one’s control)

·                     Yoke………(to be a slave, weighted down)……...Acts 15:10, Matt 11:29-30

Circumcision severs you from Christ  (Vs 2-6)

·                     Testifiy…μαρτύρομαι (martyromai)….Acts 26:22-24

·                     Obligated……(debtor)….Rom 1:14, 8:12

·                     Severed…(released, loosed from)….Rom 7:6

·                     Justified…..δικαιόω (dikaioō)…Rom 6:7

·                     Fallen away from grace…χάρις (charis)

Note: The Galatian Christians had lost their hold upon the grace for daily living which heretofore had been ministered to them by the Holy Spirit. They hadn’t lost their salvation; they had just forgotten where it came from i.e. Grace!!!  Eph 2:8

Why did you stop?  (Vs 7-10)  I Cor 9:24

·                     Hindered………I Pet 3:7

·                     Trouble……(cause great distress)…..Mt 2:3,  John 14:1

·                     Penalty……κρίμα (krima) (legal decision of judgment by someone with authority)        

                                               I Peter 4:17, James 3:1

Did you forget the Cross?  (Vs 11-14)

·                     Offense………I Cor 1:22-23

·                     Un-settle……(cause to revolt, start trouble)…..Ac 17:6, 21:38

·                     Opportunity for the flesh…(excuse)……I Tim 5:14

Love and serve one another

·                     Love….ἀγάπη (agapē)  

·                     Serve….δουλεύω (douleuō)…(to be a slave)……Col 3:23-24
