!!! Take heed to what you hear: Mark 4:23-25 /“If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.
Then He said to them, Take heed what you hear.
With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.
For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”/
We need to develop a hearing ear.
A hearing ear is one that is inclined toward hearing the Lord.
We have all done this when we have really wanted to hear something from another conversation!
We will position our ears so as to maximize our hearing ability.
We will tune in to the conversation in another room even at the expense of the guest who is in the same room with us.
We may courteously acknowledge what our guest is saying but our ears are inclined to listen to what is being said in the other room.
Although the situation is different, the principle of inclining our ears is the same: / “If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”/
Not only are we to listen, but we are to take /heed/ to what we hear.
This means that we must treasure what we hear and implement it in our lives.
Make a practice of recording what God has spoken to you so that you can go back to it at a later time.
Consider the cow.
Cows graze for hours and then lay down.
During this time of rest, they chew on and digest what they spent hours collecting.
We need to meditate on what God has spoken to us.
In doing so, we will be given more.
If we neglect what we are given, we will lose what we had.
How many times do we fail to record the little nuggets of wisdom and truth that God shared with us and, as a result, have them slip from our minds?
What God reveals to us in our minds needs to be digested until it gets in our spirit.
There it becomes revelation that is not easily lost.
David said in Psalm 63:6, /“When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.”
/Again David says in Psalm 119:148, /“My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may meditate on Your word.”/
David was a man who took heed to what he heard.
He spent time “chewing” on God’s word and upon the awesomeness of God.
As a king, David had “recorders,” people who stood by him to record what he had to say.
Many of David’s psalms and the wisdom he passed down to Solomon came out of the overflow of heeding what he heard.
Develop a hearing ear and take heed to what you hear.
This is a discipline that is a necessary ingredient of a successful Christian life.

!!!! Application: Train your ears to listen to God’s word and for His voice.
Carry a pen and pad with you at all times and jot down what the Lord speaks to your heart.
You may want to carry a small tape recorder as you drive in order to record what the Lord is speaking to you.
Make a habit of taking notes anytime the word of God is being taught.
Developing the simple habit of taking notes has a way of helping you to cultivate a hearing ear.
Plus, you can always go back and digest what you heard.
As you are reading the Bible, take notes of anything that “jumps out” at you.
Writing can tap into the flow of revelation as often happens when one speaks prophetically.
Many times even as you write down what God has given you, a flow of revelation will begin and you will receive more.
Keep a journal where you record what the Lord is saying and doing in your life.
Not only will this become a source of encouragement as you look back upon what the Lord has done in your life, but it can become a part of the heritage passed down to your children and grandchildren.
Journaling is a great way to take heed to what we have heard and to pass it on to the next generation.
