! Mentoring Manna:  Following God’s salvation plan

!!! Hebrews 11:7  /“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household…”/ The world had become a very wicked place in the days of Noah.
Violence had spread throughout the earth like a cancer.
Like radical surgery on a dying cancer patient, God determined to intervene by destroying all living creatures off of the face of the earth.
All, that is, except Noah and his family.
!!! Noah was a righteous man and he found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
In righteousness God warned Noah of His plan and instructed him to build an ark for the saving of his household.
Up until this time, no one had ever seen rain.
The earth was like a green house.
Everything was watered daily by a dense mist (Genesis 2:5-6).
When God told Noah that the earth would be destroyed with a flood, it was something unimaginable.
When God told Noah to build an ark large enough to carry his family and a remnant of every living creature on earth, it must have sounded impossible.
Yet Noah believed God.
Through believing and obeying God, he saved himself and his family.
!!!
When Noah received God’s warning of pending destruction, he didn’t try to formulate his own plan of salvation.
He didn’t try to flee to the highest mountain.
He didn’t go hide in a cave.
He didn’t build a massive storm shelter.
He did not try to invent scuba equipment.
He did not buy the fastest horses in an attempt to outrun the flood.
He didn’t buy up food and water and run to the hills.
No, Noah believed that there was only one way to survive this flood.
It was to follow God’ salvation plan.
He believed that every other attempt to escape God’s wrath would be mere futility.
!!!
The Bible foretells that the last days before the Lord’s return will be like the days of Noah (Matthew 24:37-39).
Modern newspapers and television channels are filled with the overwhelming evidence.
Men today seem determined to destroy themselves through their own lusts and with violence.
Wars and rumors of wars increase on every side.
As in the days of Noah, God has forewarned of a final judgment.
This time the earth will not be judged with water but with fire (2 Peter 3:1-13).
The day of God’s wrath is coming.
Like Noah, we cannot stop it.
All we can do is to follow God’s salvation plan.
That plan is none other than entering the ark of Jesus Christ.
We enter this ark through the door of faith when we receive Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior.
God has given us His warning.
The question is: Are you following God’s salvation plan, or are you still hoping for another way out?

!!!! Application:  People are not ignorant of the problems in our world.
Everyone agrees that things cannot continue as they are for very long.
Man will eventually devise ways to destroy himself.
Many leaders have stepped on the political stage as potential “saviors of mankind” but then walk off as failures.
New “plans of salvation” are engineered and proclaimed in university classrooms, political campaign offices, and in armchair conversations in business offices and at the local coffee shop.
Some have given up hope.
They have sold everything and headed for the hills or have moved to a desolate island in an attempt to save themselves.
God has promised to pour out His wrath against all ungodliness.
Men cannot prepare for it.
Men cannot run from it.
Men cannot hide from it.
Our attempts to escape God’s wrath are no better than hiding in a cave to escape a flood.
God alone has provided the only way of escape.
He alone has provided the only way of salvation.
Quit trying to invent your own plan of salvation.
It will not save you in the day of God’s wrath.
Only as we follow God’s plan are we assured of true salvation for ourselves and for our households.

!!!!! Prayer:  /Heavenly Father, I believe that one day You will judge the earth and all of its inhabitants.
I believe that there is only one way to be saved from Your righteous wrath.
That is to believe in Jesus Christ as my only true Savior and to receive Him as my Lord.
By faith I accept Your salvation through Christ Jesus today.
I pray this in Jesus’ name.
Amen.”/
