!!! Luke 10:25-28 /“And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, ‘Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?’
He said to him, ‘What is written in the law?
What is your reading of it?
‘ So he answered and said, ‘"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,” and your neighbor as yourself.’
And He said to him, ‘You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.’”/
God has given us a purpose.
Our purpose is to love God and to love people.
But what does it mean to love God?
!!! Loving God involves four areas of our life.
First we must love God with all of our heart.
The heart involves our affections, motives, and desires.
Loving God with all of our heart speaks of our undivided loyalty to Him.
It speaks of our loving devotion to Him/./
This kind of love comes only when God becomes our supreme treasure: / “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”/
(Matthew 6:21)
!!! Second we must love God with all of our soul.
The soul involves our mind, will, and emotions.
Loving God with all of our soul speaks of our passion for God.
How is passion developed?
It comes through spending time alone with Him.
When we spend time with God, His presence will ignite a passion for Him in our souls.
!!! Third we must love God with all of our minds.
The mind involves our thought life.
Loving God with our mind speaks of the meditation of our thoughts.
When two people are in love, their minds are consumed with thoughts for one another.
Rather than fill our minds with impure, fleshly and worldly thoughts, our minds should be continually meditating upon the Lord and His word: /“I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways.
I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.”/ (Psalm 119:15-16).
!!! Fourth we must love God with all of our strength.
Strength involves the outward demonstration of our energy and ability.
True love cannot remain hidden.
Love unexpressed is not love at all.
Love must have expression.
Loving God with all of our strength speaks of the outward expression/ /of our love for Him in our work for Him.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 declares, /“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might.”
/ God deserves the best of our energy and ability.
Loving God with all of our strength also involves the outward expression of our love for Him in worship.
Public times of praise and worship are not a “warm up” for the preaching.
If we love someone, we will not hide it before others out of shame.
David demonstrated his love for God openly and with enthusiasm: /“David danced before the Lord with all His might.”/
(2 Samuel 6:14) David said, /“Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and ALL THAT IS WITHIN ME bless His holy name.”/
(Psalm 103:1) We are to love God openly, enthusiastically, and with all of our ability.
Loving God is central to our life’s purpose.
We are to give ourselves to this pursuit.
It is a fitting response to the One who first openly demonstrated His love for us.

!!!! Application: Have you ever had someone tell you that they love you, but by the way they treated you, you could not tell it?
Love is more than a feeling.
Love is a choice.
Love is an expression.
True love will not remain hidden.
True love will always manifest in some way.
True love radiates through our words, actions, attitudes, choices, and behavior.
When God evaluates our love for Him, He looks for evidence in our heart, soul, mind, and outward expression.
Ask yourself these questions: “Do I love God?” and “Would God know I love Him if He looked at the evidence in my life?”

!!!!! Prayer: /“Heavenly Father, I want to thank You for loving me.
Forgive me for not demonstrating a true love for You.
Grant me the ability to respond to Your love in a way that You deserve.
I determine now to do this with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
I thank You for this in Jesus’ name.
Amen.”/
