“Confidence From Heaven” 1 John 3:19-24 Pastor Frank Vargo II 02/09/2020 http://freedombiblechurch.com/live/ 1 John 3:19-24 19 By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; 20 for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; 22 and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. 23 And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. 24 Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us. “Confidence From Heaven” Jerimiah 17:5-8 5 Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man     and makes flesh his strength,     whose heart turns away from the Lord. 6 He is like a shrub in the desert,     and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness,     in an uninhabited salt land. 7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,     whose trust is the Lord. 8 He is like a tree planted by water,     that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes,     for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought,     for it does not cease to bear fruit. Proverbs 28:26 Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered. Isaiah 32:17 And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. 1. Prayer Confidence 1 John 3:21-22 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; 22 and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.  Hebrews 4:16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. James 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. 3. Spirit Confidence 1 John 3:23-24 23 And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. 24 Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us. Psalm 46:1-2 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
