Do You Have Passion?

I         Where are our interests?

a)      Favorite Childhood Story

i)        Green Eggs and Ham

b)      Favorite Movie

i)        Star Wars

ii)      Indiana Jones

iii)    A Christmas Story

c)      What differences has these childhood stories, or movies, made in our lives.

i)        A few moments of enjoyment?

ii)      Most likely not a thing

II      What does it mean to be passionate about something?

a)      Webster’s Definition: Passion: is an intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction; also defined as a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept.

b)      A Burning Desire.

c)      At the forethought of your mind.

d)     You have a genuine excitement for it. – What do you do when your excited about something? You tell all.

III   Everyone is an Evangelist

a)      People you come in contact with

i)        Parties

ii)      Hunting

iii)    Fishing

b)      By their everyday actions and words people show what brings them joy and life.

i)        When we talk to others about our life the source of our joy shines through and we develop a reputation for a lifestyle.

IV   Where is our passion – what is our source of joy.

a)      Our joy comes from the Holy Spirit;

i)        Romans 15:13 – “13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” NIV

ii)      Galatians 5:22-23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” NIV

b)      Joy comes from sharing Christ

i)        Philemon 1:4-7 – “4I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, 5because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. 6I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. 7Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.”


V      Why do we find it hard to share the story of Jesus?

a)      The Story

i)        God as Baby

ii)      Name was Jesus

iii)    Showed humanity haw we can know Him

iv)    Taught everyone about God

v)      Lived a sinless life

vi)    Claimed to be God

vii)  People wanted to silence Him to prove he wasn’t God

viii)            Jesus’ Death on the cross was according to God’s will

ix)    Jesus willingly gave his life for our sins

x)      He was buried and three days later God raised Him from the dead

xi)    His Victory over death gave us victory if we put our faith in Him

xii)  He is able to give you what you need most, a relationship with God and eternal life in heaven.

VI   What do we need to know to accept Christ?

a)      Romans 10:9-10 – “9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

b)      Accepting and Sharing are not hard.

c)      The messenger is not the issue, it is the message

d)     1 Chronicles 28 – “20 David also said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.”

VII Where do the people around you think you get life?

a)      Do you show and tell Jesus as the source of life, or do you act like everyone else?

b)      Do you talk about the church, friends, fun trips, when you should be sharing Jesus?

VIII         Where is your Passion

a)      Webster also defines Passion as: a : the sufferings of Christ between the night of the Last Supper and his death.

IX   Conclusion

a)      Our Church

b)      Matthew 16:18 – “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it.

c)      Are You willing.
