If you're paying attention to the readings today, you might be surprised to hear Isaiaih 9:1-4 as the opening reading. That's a Christmas reading! But Matthew quotes it in our Gospel reading as Jesus launches into His ministry in Galilee. Jesus begins by calling some of His disciples. That's usually how it starts: the Holy Spirit calls us to faith, and we respond without even really knowing the path on which it will take us, but with complete confidence about the destination.
