Walking in the Prophetic, or Living in the Pathetic? (3)

John 3:1–7 ESV
1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
4 Quick Lessons

You Must Be Born Again!

Rejecting the Need for a Savior.
Rejecting Jesus As The Needed Savior.
It is not how they act. A Christian should act differently than the World/

Lesson #1 Baseline: This is the starting point, not the end result. We are not working to get there, we start there.

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
FOR I KNOW.......DECLARES THE LORD. (WHO?) Let me tell you about the LORD.
Genesis 1:1 NASB95
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Elohime: 3 Volunteers Father Son & Holy Spirit, the triune God.
The Covenant Making God.
Before He every spoke the universe into existence, the Covenant making, triune God made a covenant.
That is the God who says to you. I have a plan for you.
Ephesians 2:10 NKJV
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10 NLT
10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
His Masterpiece
Michelangelo (If Time)
We are the Master's Masterpiece.
People should be able to tell You have been made by the Master.
But First You need to Know it.
He poured His best into YOU.
Jeremiah 1:4–8 NKJV
4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” 6 Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.
Vs 5 Before I Formed You, I knew You. Before you were born, I set you apart. I ordained you for this moment in time.
YOU ARE NOT A MISTAKE. I don’t car if your parents told you, you were unplanned. I don’t car if you never knew your parents. Even if you were the product of a violent rape. YOU WERE NOT A MISTAKE AND YOU DID NOT CATCH GOD BY MISTAKE. You are God’s Masterpiece. Not only that. He has a plan for your life.
Ephesians 2:10 AMP
10 For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].
Hassleblad (Describe)
There is nothing wrong with being a good door stop, if you were created to be a door stop. You might even be an excellent door stop, BUT IF YOU WERE CREATED TO BE A HASSLEBLAD, then let’s be a Hassleblad, because you will be judged as a Hassleblad, not a door stop.

Lesson #2 The Judgement

2 Timothy 4:1 NASB95
1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:
vs.1 This is a courtroom setting: The Father and the Son are the Judge: We know the defendant: The Living and the dead. ( Anyone qualify?)
Judge: to make a judgment based upon the correctness or value of something—‘to evaluate, to judge.

What are the Living and the Dead to be judged according to? His Appearing and His Kingdom. What does that mean?

ἐπιφάνεια ĕpiphanĕia, ep-if-an´-i-ah; from 2016; a manifestation, i.e. (spec.) the advent of Christ (past or future):— appearing, brightness.

The Holy Spirit knows what he put in us, He knows where he wants to use us, and he knows if we let HIM do His Work through us.
The Holy Spirit wants to show up and show off the kingdom, and we are the vehicle he chooses to show up in.
Do we cooperate with Him?
Look at 2 Timothy 4:1 in the Passion Translation of the NT.
2 Timothy 4:1 (Passion Translation NT) 1 Timothy, in the presence of our great God and our Lord Jesus Christ, the One who is destined to judge both the living and the dead by the revelation of his kingdom—I solemnly instruct you to

2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
Vs 2 Timothy’s charge: preach the Word. When it’s popular. When it’s not. reprove, rebuke, exhort.....with...
Vs 3 Sound Doctrine. Correct, healthy teaching
Vs 4: Myths.

μῦθος muthŏs, moo´-thos; perh. from the same as 3453 (through the idea of tuition); a tale, i.e. fiction (“myth”):— fable.

Acts 19:35–36 NASB95
35 After quieting the crowd, the town clerk said, “Men of Ephesus, what man is there after all who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is guardian of the temple of the great Artemis and of the image which fell down from heaven? 36 “So, since these are undeniable facts, you ought to keep calm and to do nothing rash.
Background ( 20,000 people shouting for 2 hours “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!)and vs 35
vs 36. undeniable facts: But it wasn’t an undeniable fact, It was Greek mythology. A tale, fiction, a fable. The masses just bought into it.

Lesson #3

We Need Sound Doctrine.

Sound Doctrine: Or Jesus Drops a Bomb.
John 5:19–20 NASB95
19 Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. 20 “For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel.
Vs 19 Truly, truly. The one who did not lie, and could not lie says, Guys, I’m telling you the truth. Why? Read on.
The Son can do nothing of Himself. He only does what he sees the Father doing.
Sound Doctrine: Jesus Drops Another Bigger Bomb on His Disciples
John 14:7–10 NASB95
7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.” 8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
Vs 10) I don’t even talk on my own.
Jesus speaking: My Speaking His Words, is the Father doing His Works.
John 14:11 NASB95
11 “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves.
Jesus is God, but Jesus came to earth as a man. He is our Savior.
Sound Doctrine: Jesus Drops and Even Bigger Bomb.
John 14:12–14 NASB95
12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. 13 “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 “If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
John 14:16 NASB95
16 “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;
Another: One Just Like Me. Rick Renner.
“I will pray the Father, and He will send you someone who is just like Me in every way. He will be identical to Me in the way I speak, the way I think, the way I operate, the way I see things and the way I do things. He will be exactly like Me in every way. If He is here, it will be just as if I am here because we think, behave and operate the same.” Rick Renner The Dynamic Duo- The Holy Spirit and You.
We did not get a lessor God riding around on the inside of us.

2 Timothy 4:3–4 NASB95
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.
I refuse to live a myth.

What Ever He Says to You, DO IT!

Whatever he says to you, do it.

It’s Not About You. It’s About Jesus.
