Introduction

Paul's final encouragement to Thessalonian church. Rejoice, pray, and be thankful. Always, continuously, in everything. Triple hyperbole.
We Pray started with We Fast – fasting because we were finishing the week of prayer and fasting. Fasting means to abstain from gratifying the flesh (physical desires) in order to strengthen the spirit. Fasting can be with prayer or with action.

Rejoice In Rescue
Philippians 4:4–7 NIV
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Rejoice In Reshaping
rejoice, rejoice, ask and God will give you peace.
Fasting with prayer is taking time away from physical desires to spend concentrated time in prayer, not for getting what we want from God, but in aligning ourselves more fully with the Kingdom, God’s will , and God’s purposes. Wisdom and direction, decision about future, need for clarity, healing, spiritual breakthrough of other type.

Matthew 5:11–12 ESV
11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Next we looked at We Believe. Prayer should not be boiled down to a format or formula. It is most simple when it is a cry from the heart. Help! Or I believe. We believe God is true, His word is true, and His response is true. Simple prayers are We believe you for healing. We believe you for direction. Etc. Examples from – those who believed and were healed/saved. And which focused the whole chapter on Do not worry. Seek God’s kingdom and righteousness. Believe God for your needs.

20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Another aspect of prayer is rejoicing. Rejoicing is heart attitude of gratefulness and joy that goes beyond the hurt and sorrow, beyond a surface happiness to recognize and celebrate the goodness of God.

Luke 13:10–17 ESV
10 Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.” 13 And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God. 14 But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, “There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it? 16 And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” 17 As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.
Do we rejoice in the answers and provision of God? Can we rejoice when someone else gets the healing or the bonus or the blessing? Can we rejoice when someone else does the healing or blessing or teaching?

Psalm 95:1–11 NLT
1 Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him. 3 For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods. 4 He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. 5 The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. 6 Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, 7 for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today! 8 The Lord says, “Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness. 9 For there your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw everything I did. 10 For forty years I was angry with them, and I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ 11 So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’ ”

Psalm 117:1–2 NLT
1 Praise the Lord, all you nations. Praise him, all you people of the earth. 2 For his unfailing love for us is powerful; the Lord’s faithfulness endures forever. Praise the Lord!
1 Peter 4:12–14 ESV
12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
