Text - Matthew 24.1-3
Matthew 24:1–3 NKJV
1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

the last days refer to the last years of the present age, which began with the fall of man in the garden of Eden
the last days will climax in the second coming of Christ, which is the end of the (present) age

Outline of the Olivet Discourse

Jesus outlined the events that will transpire in relation to the Jewish nation.

The Beginning of Sorrows - Matthew 24.4-13

many will come in Christ’s name - after the time of Jesus any Jewish “messiahs” came up and promised deliverance
you will hear of wars and rumors of war
nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom
famines, pestilences, earthquakes
THESE ARE THE BEGINNING OF SORROWS - NOT SIGNS
Jewish persecution - especially the holocaust under Hitler

The Gospel of the Kingdom is Proclaimed - Matthew 24.14

the gospel is proclaimed all over the world

The Great Tribulation - Matthew 24.15-22

abomination of desolation - Daniel 9.27
this person is also the Antichrist - 2 Thessalonians 2.1-4
great tribulation will last 3 years and 6 months

The Second Coming of Christ & End of the Age - Matthew 24.23-31

Jews will look deliverance, false prophets will promise deliverance
heavenly occurences
Christ appears in the heaven
the elect left alive at that time will be gathered

Where we are in Christ’s Timeline

The Gospel will be proclaimed to the nations - Acts 1.8
from Jerusalem to the uttermost part of the world
The Church will be caught up in the “rapture” - 1 Thessalonians 4.15-17
The Gospel will return to Israel - Romans 11.25-28

Israel has become a nation once more!

1948 - The U.N. declared the existence of a Jewsih State of Israel

Nations were created in the last 100 years

before 1900 - there were barely 60 countries in existence
from 1900 to present - there are 241 countries and territories
193 are members of the U.N.

Syria - 1961

Jordan - 1946
Israel - 1947
Libya - 1951
Saudi Arabia - 1932

Before the gospel returns to Israel, Christ will bring His Church with Him!
