Recap:
Lie: Jesus only cares about the rules and only likes perfect people.
Lie: Jesus is wimpy.

Today’s Lie: Following Jesus is boring.

Idea that Christians don’t get to do the fun things.
God is just trying to keep everyone from enjoying their lives.
That is NOT true!
In fact, I’ve found that living for God has given my life purpose.
During the times I disobey God and don’t live his way, I feel empty and miserable.
Only living for myself led to selfish behavior, lacked true friends, lasting relationships, and spiritually dry.
Reminds me of the story of King Solomon: Wisest man who ever lived until Jesus. He had everything a man could ever want---money, power, women---and anything else he wanted. He was KING!
Ecclesiastes 2:10–11 NIV
10 I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my labor, and this was the reward for all my toil. 11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.
Solomon looks at his life and says “it all means nothing.” Over and over again he says is life is missing something without God.
Solomon says pursuing a life for God is all that really counts.
Life is about living for God. It’s not easy, but it’s definitely not boring.
Here are the blessings I have in my life. I wouldn’t have these if I wasn’t following Jesus.

"The journey's been that faith has been the wildest ride. And Jesus, the heart of the Christian faith is the wildest, most radical guy you'd ever come across. He was always hanging around with the prostitutes and the tax collectors and having parties and banquets, and I found myself drawn to that character, not the kind of fluff that we like to box as religion." —Bear Grylls, Famous for being awesome
John 10:10 NIV
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
I’ve never met ANYONE who completely gave their lives to God who thought their lives were boring, that they were missing out on something. Living for God is the MOST incredible, fulfilling, interesting adventure we can ever go on.
We forget that the devil is working against us. He wants us to believe that true living, the good life is found in:
money
sex
popularity/approval
stuff
sports/competition
Each of those things disappoint, ultimately. They’re not bad, they are good. In fact, God can use those things for his purposes. But they are not the goal, they are not the most important thing.
Satan sold us a lie. He convinced us think that what should matter most is unappealing to us. You’ve been tricked! Don’t believe the lies!
Romans 1:25 NIV
25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
How could following God in the flesh ever be boring?
Leaving for God is NOT boring.

Living for God is the ONLY way to truly LIVE.
