Week 3 of 4 part series of it’s time...
The whole series is aimed at getting us going in 2020
I want you to live your best life possible and it’s closer than you think it is.
“If we keep doing what we’re doing, we’re going to keep getting what we’re getting.” Stephen Covey
A lot of us expect life to be better. We have high hopes, but our habits are low.
All of Jesus messages were built around this…
Matthew 3:2 NLT
2 “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
It means to change your direction. Jesus came alongside people who were going the wrong direction and urged them to change directions.
The problem is that many of us have the wrong King. We need a new King. We need to make Jesus king of our lives.
Today’s message is…

God Time

It’s time to have more of God in our lives. Most of you have made some type of commitment to God, but have you given him permission to go into all the areas of your life. Until he has them all, he can’t do his best work inside of you.
Human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.” CS Lewis
We try to find something other than God to make us happy. party…
Romans 13:11–14 The Message
11 But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. 12 The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. 13 We can’t afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. 14 Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about!
We are looking to 2020 to be a year of great joy in the Lord.
The moment you put God at the center of your life, you will have great joy.
You all are great people, but some of you need to put God at the center of your life.

1. It’s time to take control of my schedule

This is why many of our lives are messed up.
Many of us are trying to do too much. You can’t burn the candle at both ends. saying … my candle… That’s not true. If you are burning your candle at both ends, you’re just not too bright.
Ecclesiastes 4:6 NLT
6 And yet, “Better to have one handful with quietness than two handfuls with hard work and chasing the wind.”
When you fill up your schedule and there is no margin, you cannot be effective.
We have to establish our priorities and schedule them
Jeremiah 6:16 NIV
16 This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
It’s time to go to bed in time…

First 15 5 minutes in the Bible 5 minutes in worship 5 minutes in prayer

2. It’s time to regulate what I allow to enter my mind and body

Too many people have no filter or gate on your eyes, ears and your mouth. Whatever you put in is destroying the rest of your life… movies… music… alcohol… prescriptions when you don’t need it… 21 Days… fasting sweets, cigarettes, marajuana …
We need to pull away from anything that[s ungodly.
You may say that it’s legal or ok to do… here is my response.
1 Corinthians 10:23 NIV
23 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.
Not everything is constructive. You can’t get to where you want to go with some of the habits we have.
Pray this during the 21 days…
Psalm 141:4 NLT
4 Don’t let me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness. Don’t let me share in the delicacies of those who do wrong.
What is the HS telling you already? Sometimes God will not speak to us because we have not listened to what he has already told us and done what he said.

3. It’s time to organize my finances around Give, Save, Live

Organize them around God principles. Your life will be so much better if you will do things God’s way. When you get this part of your life lined up with God you will get closer to God.
Matthew 6:21 NLT
21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
Proverbs 3:9 The Message
9 Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best.
God owns it all. So give him the first and the best. You are honoring God today by giving him the first day of your week. Give God the first and best.

4. It’s time to live my life intentionally

You will not get where you want to be without disciplines in your life that line up with where you want to be
You and I are not a product of our circumstances. We are a product of our disciplines.
Proverbs 20:4 NIV
4 Sluggards do not plow in season; so at harvest time they look but find nothing.
Sluggards don’t have daily disciplines… people may want what you have, but they are not willing to do what you do. You have to live your life with a set of disciplines.
Everyday, choose to practice your disciplines. John Maxwell calls it the rule of 5.
Rule of 5 Spend time with God in prayer Study God’s Word Love those closest to me Make a difference in someone’s life Take care of myself
When you do these, you end of up with a life time of success.
Psalm 90:12 The Living Bible
12 Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should.

The Key to it all

1. I must know my purpose

You must have a purpose that drives you. If you have no why, you will have no way. When you realize your purpose, you will live different.
Psalm 139:16 NLT
16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

2. I must have a plan

Go home and make a schedule… take control of your calendar. Get a calendar… How will you stop drinking, smoking, worrying...
Proverbs 17:24 TEV
24 An intelligent person aims at wise action, but a fool starts off in many directions.

3. I must have accountability

You can’t do this alone. If you have a workout partner, you will be more regular.
Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 NLT
9 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.
You need the power of God to make this happen.

Faith is taking a step even when you don’t see the whole staircase
