1 John 4:1-6

Presence of Falsehood (vs1-3)

False prophets try to deceive the Church from the inside.

The call is to keep testing what we hear.

The truth of a message stands and falls based on what it says about Jesus.

The spirit of the antichrist is constantly trying to point people away from Jesus.

No Fear (vs4)

In the face of this opposition, we must remember who we are and whose we are.

Every opposition you face is something that Jesus has already overcome.

Through trusting in Jesus, we share in His victory.

The presence of the Holy Spirit within us leads us to courageous action

(2 Timothy 1:7).

Listen to the Word (vs5-6)

The Word of God tells us the truth of who Jesus is as well as the truth of all things.

All other ideas come from people, but the Bible comes from the Spirit

(2 Peter 1:21).

Every lie seeks to discredit the Bible in some way.

We must be committed to knowing and holding to the truth of God’s Word.
