This Psalm is a powerful expression of when, how, and why we should trust in the Lord. It displays God’s love and rule over the wicked – even as they seemingly succeed and get away from sin. We are reminded that there is a judgement when God will make all things right. Therefore, a satisfying life is found in trusting the Lord and delighting in his ways. We need to remember that a truly satisfying life is exclusively found in whom trusts and delights in our Lord.

Ross: is a powerfully didactic psalm that exhibits a proverbial character. Westermann says the psalm is so steeped in the wisdom tradition that it could be included in the book of Proverbs. Through all its teachings the psalm reveals that the righteousness of God’s providence is vindicated in his administration of the world.26 In discovering this the psalmist instructs people to wait, trust, and look to the end, in order to see how even in this life God manifests his righteousness in rewarding the godly and destroying the wicked.
NET: . The psalmist urges his audience not to envy the wicked, but to trust in and obey the Lord, for he will destroy sinners and preserve the godly. When the smoke of judgment clears, the wicked will be gone, but the godly will remain and inherit God’s promised blessings. The psalm is an acrostic; every other verse begins with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet.
