CALVARY

Introduction.

Let us look at Calvary—the most sacred place in the world.

CALVARY—where the Son of God died that the sons of men might live.
CALVARY—where the innocent blood of Jesus was shed to cleanse us all.
CALVARY—where all the sin of the world was laid on one who knew no sin.
CALVARY—where men can come with their troubles and find the peace which passeth all understanding.
CALVARY—where you and I receive life, joy, and assurance.
CALVARY—where Jesus paid it all.

I. AT CALVARY WE SEE THE LOVE AND COMPASSION OF JESUS “FATHER FORGIVE THEM.”

1. Those who crucified Him …
2. Those who mocked Him …
3. Those who tempted Him …
4. Those who were indifferent …
5. Those who deny Him …
6. Those who reject Him—prayer for their salvation …

II. AT CALVARY WE SEE THE PERFECT PICTURE OF SALVATION BY GRACE, ALONE

1. The thief had nothing to offer the Lord, either before or after this hour … Just as he was …
2. This refutes the idea of works—ceremony—creeds—etc.…
3. The thief did only two things …
(a) Repented …
(b) Trusted …

III. AT CALVARY WE HEAR THE PROMISE TO ALL WHO COME “TODAY SHALT THOU BE WITH ME IN PARADISE.”

1. We have done nothing to merit even his attention …
2. Instantaneous salvation …
3. Companionship with the Son of God … This denotes perfection (spiritual) … Not our righteousness—BUT HIS
4. “Paradise”—“The Paradise of God” …

IV. AT CALVARY WE HEAR THE WORDS “IT IS FINISHED” …

1. Salvation is within reach of all people …
2. Salvation is completed—nothing to be added … Just accept as a gift …

Conclusion.

“Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe, Sin has left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.”
