When Moses first approaches Pharaoh with the message that God had gave him, it didn’t have the immidiate result that we might have expected.
Yet what we get in this story is a perfect example of Gospel centered prayer.
Not because of the great eloquence, but because of the desperate heart, fully dependent on God to carry out His will.
Not a perfectly formatted prayer
This was, “God, what is happening here?!”
I went to pharaoh like you said
I said the thing
Now it’s gotten worse!
· Some treat prayer as this secret code
If you want to ask God, first you must…
God’s not a Genie.
It’s not the words God responds to, it’s the heart.
Moses was joining God at His work.
(the Gospel)
Moses prayer was essentially asking God, “What are you doing?”
Even Moses (God’s main guy) was dumbfounded.
Don’t be discouraged when you feel clueless
And don’t let that stop your prayers
There are going to be times you have no idea what God is doing!
What is important is that you know God.
Move forward in your prayer with what you do know.
God is the Lord
Jesus is risen
I’m called to spread the Gospel to a dying world.
Joining God in the Gospel might mean allowing yourself to be “put on the spot.”
Your Gospel centered prayers might reflect that.
You have to ask yourself:
Are you willing to “look like a fool for God” believing that ultimately when God completes His work, you will be justified?
There is a psalm that has encouraged me and I have shared with others...
Your purposes will one day be vendicated
They will one day see that you were right
Are you willing to wait that long?
God’s timing was perfect and served His purpose.
“Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh.”
“Thus says the Lord” (5:1) vs “Thus says Pharaoh” (5:10)
God spoke to Moses (6:2-5)
“I am the Lord...”
God spoke to the people (6:6-8)
“I am the Lord...”
I will...
