1 John 2:28-3:10 “Confidence as a Child”

Child through Love (3:1)

This immediately draws our attention to the love God has given us.

The love God has given is greater than we can even understand

(Ephesians 3:17-19).

We have confidence because we have received God’s love as much as anyone ever could.

Don’t let worldly standards rob you of the assurance you have in God’s love.

Child with Hope (3:2-3)

We don’t know everything about what we will be, but it will be good.

We do know that we will be like Him in ways we never were on Earth.

We know that we will get to see Jesus for who He really is.

What we don’t know and do know give us hope to look forward to Jesus’

coming with confidence.

Child of Righteousness (3:3-10)

The child of God moves away from sin, understanding Jesus is Lord (vs4) and came to take away sin (vs5).

Those who continue in sin should be ashamed and concerned about eternity.

A child of God simply is not able to hold on to sin (vs9).

The more we see God work in our lives, the more we are reminded of being

His child.
