He’ll Make A Difference In Your Life!

When was the last time you heard that scripture?  When was the last time a preacher told you that getting into heaven was a hard thing?  How long has it been since you heard that Jesus is coming back and it could be today?

1 Peter 4:17, 18

17 For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God:  and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?

18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

It seems as if the words, “Church, pastor, prayer, holiness, Christian, Christ-like, sanctified” are all becoming foreign terms to this generation of churchgoers.

It is becoming harder and harder for the Body of Christ to challenge one another these days.

1 Corinthians 6:2-3

2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Accountability is becoming less and less visible because it is becoming less and less important in this day that we are living.

---No one wants to be told that they are wrong!

Desensitized (Saints) --- defined

  1. To make emotionally insensitive or unresponsive, as by long exposure or repeated shocks
  2. To make (a photographic film or substance) less sensitive to light.
  3. To lessen the sensitiveness of
  4. To make indifferent, unaware, or the like, in feeling.

Insensitive (Saints) --- defined

  1. deficient in human sensibility, acuteness of feeling, or consideration; unfeeling; callous
  2. not physically, mentally, or morally sensitive
  3. not affected by physical or chemical agencies or influences
  4. not readily responsive or aware; lacking in responsiveness
  5. having little or no reaction to what is perceived by one's senses
    1. Example:  “The dentist's injection numbed the nerves and made the tooth insensitive to the drill.

People don’t have the respect for leadership that they once had.  They will lie in a minute just to keep up appearances and to justify themselves or make themselves seem innocent in certain situations.  Sometimes I just want to say, “Now, just stop right there because you’re getting ready to lie.  And I don’t want you to drop dead right here in front of me.  ‘Cause, first of all, that’s going to scare me and secondly, I’m not going to stay here and look for Community’s phone number while you’re laying here on my floor!  So, you need to just quite while you’re ahead!

1 Corinthians 14:26

“How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.”

Everybody is saved!  Everybody has the Holy Ghost! ---NO Discipline!!!  This is what’s lacking in the Body!

It’s time for the Body of Christ to really appropriate what Jesus did in His substitutionary death, burial, and resurrection.  It’s time for us who say we are saved, to start acting like we are saved.

Matthew 7:13-29

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate:  for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

We must make religion our business, and be intent upon it; we must be strict and circumspect in our conversation, which is here represented to us as entering in at a strait gate, and walking on in a narrow way.

There are but two ways, right and wrong, good and evil; the way to heaven, and the way to hell; in the one of which we are all of us walking: no middle place hereafter, no middle way now: the distinction of the children of men into saints and sinners, godly and ungodly.

They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway
They say there's always magic in the air
But when you're walkin' down that street
And you ain't had enough to eat
The glitter rubs right off and you're nowhere.

They say the girls are something else on Broadway
But looking at them just gives me the blues
'Cause how ya gonna make some time
When all you got is one thin dime?
And one thin dime won't even shine your shoes.

They say that I won't last too long on Broadway
I'll catch a Greyhound bus for home, they all say
But oh! They're dead wrong, I know they are
'Cause I can play this here guitar
And I won't quit till I'm a star on Broadway

You will have abundance of liberty in the broad way; the gate is wide, and stands wide open to tempt those that go right on their way. You may go in at this gate with all your lusts about you; it gives no check to your appetites, to your passions: you may walk in the way of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; that gives room enough.’’ It is a broad way, for there is nothing to hedge in those that walk in it, but they wander endlessly; a broad way, for there are many paths in it; there is choice of sinful ways, contrary to each other, but all paths in this broad way. Secondly, "You will have abundance of company in that way: many there be that go in at this gate, and walk in this way.’’ If we follow the multitude, it will be to do evil: if we go with the crowd, it will be the wrong way.

Then, we must understand that the broad way leads to destruction!

14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Why strait and not straight?

  1. a narrow passage of water connecting two large bodies of water
  2. a place of difficulty, distress, or need
  3. a narrow passage; confined in space
  4. strict, as in requirements or principles

There is something bigger on the other side.  If you can just be strict now, it will pay off afterwhile.

  1. without a bend angle or curve.
  2. exactly vertical or horizontal
  3. evenly or uprightly formed or set

Too many are trying to make the narrow way a broad way, but that will never happen!!!

“How do you truly know that you are saved?”  (He’s in my heart” is a good response for a 7 year old, but for the rest of us, that response is not good enough!)

You know that you have been saved because your life is in the process of being changed.  Where your lifestyle used to be one of doing and having your own way, now, because of salvation, your life is one of walking in the paths of God’s truth; His Word, and when we step outside of that path, God’s Holy Spirit will let you know that you’re out of line and they He’ll come and put you back on that right path.

If you are really saved, God will now allow you to act like the world; dress like the world.

God will make a difference in your life.

How do you recognize a true Christian?  By the fruit!

Look at the way you walk, dress, talk, live and ask yourself, “Do I look like the world?”; “…act like the world?”; “live like the world?”

God has the power to change man!!!  He has the power over all flesh!!!

It amazes me how much we say we want to be like Christ, but we don’t want to change!

We are so full of the Holy Ghost with speaking in tongues and dancing before the Lord and shouting praise unto God.  But how is it that your Holy Ghost didn’t tell you that you hurt my feelings?

Why doesn’t your Holy Ghost tell you that you need to stop treating me any old kind a way?

You say that you’re saved, so why can’t you apologize when you do wrong?

“Oh, that was a great service!  That was a powerful move of God!  We sure had a time in church!  God really had his way today!”

No it wasn’t!  No He didn’t!  Not if it didn’t last!!!

God will make a difference in your life.
