I) He was called to be God’s Servant (V. 1)

It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the word of God.
His Word would go forth like an arrow, convicting people of their sin.
The Word would be like FIRE

God would protect Him in the “quiver”
III) He was called to be the “New Israel” (V. 3)
The Israelites had failed to follow God’s plan.
Christ would see to it the plan was fulfilled.
The plan for Israel was:
To give testimony that Yahweh was the only true God.
To be the people through which He would send His Holy Word, to the world.
To be the people through whom He would send the Savior
Israel had failed miserably to follow God's commands.
They failed to be God's witnesses to the world.
And when God sent Christ they rejected Him

11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.
IV) He was called to live in Trust of God.
(V. 4)
Christ had to live a total life of trust in the Holy Father.
From a human perspective, a preacher's perspective, Jesus really had failed and what others would see as his mission.
A preacher also wants to see fruits of his labor.
Here we see Christ influencing a very few.
We Baptist like numbers.
We keep a tally of how many baptisms, how many join our church, how many we gain or lose throughout the year.
But, disciples is what Jesus wanted
Only a few trusted him
and those few scattered when he was hung on the cross
but Christ knew to leave the results to God the Father
V) He was called to redeem Israel (V. 5)
states he was sent to "the lost sheep of the house of Israel"
He was sent to lead them back to God
he was sent to deliver them from sin and death
but he was not only sent to Israel
he was sent to the whole world
he was sent to the Jew and Gentile alike
VI) He was called to be a LIGHT to the Gentiles (V. 6)
Since he was sent to be the Light of the World,
he most definitely would be a light to the Gentiles
Let's make it clear he was sent to every man, woman, and child on the earth.

9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on him will not be put to shame,
12 since there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, because the same Lord of all richly blesses all who call on him.
13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
VII) He was called to suffer (V.7)
Jesus would become known as the suffering servant of God
He would be humiliated, ridiculed, spit on, beaten, despised and rejected, and crucified
all at the hands of the people he came to save
But is suffering redeemed us all
VIII) He was called to be honored (V.7)
But, after his beatings, rejection, and crucifixion he would be exalted and placed on the throne where all citizens of the earth that ever have been and never will be will bow down to him

11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels around the throne, and also of the living creatures and of the elders.
Their number was countless thousands, plus thousands of thousands.
12 They said with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!
