Introduction: In the American frontier days, there was a settlement in the West whose citizens were engaged in the lumber business. The town felt they wanted a church. They built a building and called a minister. The preacher moved into the settlement and initially was well received. Then one afternoon he happened to see some of his parishioners dragging some logs, which had been floated down the river from another village upstream, onto the bank. Each log was marked with the owner's stamp on one end. To his great distress, the minister saw his members pulling in the logs and sawing off the end where the telltale stamp appeared.
The following Sunday he preached a strong sermon on the commandment "Thou shall not steal." At the close of the service, his people lined up and offered enthusiastic congratulations: "Wonderful message, Pastor." "Mighty fine preaching." "Keep up the good work."
It wasn't the response he expected, so he went home to prepare his sermon for the following Sunday. He preached on the same text, the same commandment, but gave it a different ending. He said, "Yes, thou shall not steal, but thou shall also not cut off the end of thy neighbor's logs." When he got through, the congregation ran him out of town.
Today’s message is titled, Walk in His Ways. Many of us here would agree with the title as we know that is what we as Christians are supposed to do. However, when that call gets personal, then we might get a little uncomfortable. That is exactly what I pray happens today! Today I want to challenge you to a better worldview. That worldview depends on you being a student of the Word not of the world. Let’s see what our passage says.

Explanation:
This whole chapter in Proverbs is about Wisdom. The reader is invited to be a part of Wisdom. Wisdom here is introduced as a magnificent queen. It is a way of introducing the reader to the real wisdom which is His Word. We know that the wisdom of the Word is Jesus. So in the context of this passage we find our verse of study this morning. Develop a Christian Worldview
What is a worldview? A worldview is the set of beliefs about fundamental aspects of reality the one holds. So, it is how you view the world. The truth is, the way you view the world is usually what is reflected in your day to day life.
There are a few different worldviews that are prevalent in the world today. To name a few:
Secular Humanism- Atheism- Darwin
Material Humanism/Marxism- Atheism- Marx (communism/socialism)
Post Modernism- Skepticism- You are your own god- Ayn Rand, Nietche
Cosmic Humanism- Many gods, everything is god- Hinduism, Buddha, Confucius
Biblical Christian Worldview- One God- Bible
The goal of the Christian is to develop a Christian Worldview. To be able to see the world through the eyes of God. This is the ultimate goal. How is this done? Christian Education. It is vital that the believer allow God to influence them. Colossians 2:8
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.
What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
These are just a few of the very many passages that we find in the Bible about what we are to learn and who to learn from. The Christian Worldview that is lived out is one that will honor Christ. This type of worldview is what we are committed to here at Kimberly Christian Church.

If you have not found yourself participating in any of these, then may I suggest doing so? Your worldview matters greatly. It is my prayer that you have a Christian Worldview! It was Francis Schaeffer that said, “Christianity provides a unified answer for the whole of life.”- Francis Schaeffer
Developing a proper Christian worldview comes down to discipleship. Are you a disciple of Jesus Christ? Is He your teacher? Are you a student of the Word? A disciple of Jesus will hold a Christian worldview. It was Dietrich Bonhoeffer that said, “Christianity without discipleship is always Christianity without Christ.”- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Conclusion: What kind of worldview do you live from? I pray that it is from a Christian worldview. There is absolute truth and that truth is found in Jesus Christ. It is found in His Word. As we end 2019, I want to challenge you with a few things. 1. Join our church family officially. 2. Join a Sunday school class. 3. Commit to growing in the Lord through discipleship and disciple someone else. It’s time to get off the fence and be all in. Let’s make 2020 the start of something amazing in this congregation. If you want change in this church, you have to step up and lead the change or be a part of the solutions.
