I do invite you to open up your Bible to Deuteronomy 17 as we begin today. Finish the study to the book of Philippians last time I preached in that series. Anyway, I've done some other miscellaneous thing. But what I promised study through the King has fascinated with the Delights of the king, but I think it would be fitting for us today to build a foundation for looking at that study. So I kind of my message today when you get what you want and that comes right after pastor preaching about ask and you shall receive so we know that Christmas is coming up right? That's the time when we normally ask people forget and many kids are thinking to themselves Christmas or maybe a salad asking another stop to be a good thing for me to have for Christmas. We want the answer to be yes, cuz that's what we really want. Did you know sometimes there are things that we ask for that? Maybe we shouldn't really get and we don't always know to ask for the things that we ought to ask for in a James would say we ask amiss are we we can assume things that on her own lusts and the children of Israel. If you look at their history, they do have circumstances in their past where they have asked for things and God I'll give you what you asked for and then they find out the reason why they shouldn't have asked for it. And it's not just in case if we look at the history of the kings of contention that God himself and Israel history when they would have none of that they decided over us. That's the foundation that we're going to look at it today and I had to turn to Deuteronomy 17. I'd like to have us begin reading inverse number 14. Deuteronomy 17 will be taking the tour of a lot of different passages today. So buckle your seatbelts and we get ready for the ride. If you go look at today, I'll try to get through quickly as I can and not get bogged down too much in one place for all of his ties together to give us the foundation for looking at what eventually going to get to the next time I have to preach and that's the look at the divided Kingdom and the kings that came from the northern and the southern tribes.

The lord giveth and shall possess it and she'll dwell therein and she'll say I will set a king over me like his old is better about me. Thou shalt in any wise one from a stranger over the body shall not * Egypt to the end that you should multiply horses or as much as the Lord has sent them to you you shall henceforth return no more that way neither shall he multiply wives that is heart turn not away. Neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and go and it shall be when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites and it shall be with him. And he said that he may learn to fear the lord his God to keep all the words of this law at least ask you to do that that is hard to not lifted up above his Brethren and that he turn not aside from the Commandments the right hand or to the left to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom and his children in the midst of Israel. Lord I pray for your help today then go through this study with your people here. You would help me to say the things that you would have me to say indeed even as I say and that you would help me Lord to have nothing else communicate only what you were word says and nothing of what my own mind might want to say about those things. Other than that which will help you to clearly communicate of the understanding of your word that you people might be instructed Lord. I just pray that your work through this time Lord in this entire series, even as we look at these different people different teams that are involved in the history of the nation of your People Israel. Will thank you for all that you can get in through this in Jesus name. Deuteronomy 17, so Again, this is going to be a bunch of things chained together to look at the foundation of what led up to the divided Kingdom. First of all, we see here in Deuteronomy 17 what I call the prophecy of an Earthly King. Now as far as we know and I'll get to it later. My message that there is a Heavenly King that was promised to come through even the lines of the king is here, but I'm here with this study Deuteronomy 17. If you see that God knew that in their history that they would want to make this decision and it sold that very first word that we read verse 14 when it's not a matter of if but it's a matter of when. Already knew that they would come to a point in their history that they would desire in Earthly King. So God is an telling them what I don't know maybe some of them are already thinking in their hearts.

He mentions that in the first 15 if you are going to have a king or I should say rather when you have a king let it not be a team that is going to leave you back there. I I deliver you from Egypt and I don't want you going back there.

So we see the turkey and something that will happen and take note of that trade. If you're at the end of Route 14, you're going to see this phrase as we go through looking at some of passages today with the other situations where indeed it does come to pass that they desire things. So don't use words at the end of Route 14. I will set a king over me like as all the nations that are about me. Isn't that how we ask for things? Sometimes we want to keep up with the Joneses? Well, as far as that the Joneses of the worldly Nation, there's going to come a time when the nation of Israel into history here or they want to be like everybody else and weed weed sometimes desire those things for ourselves. And God would rather have us ask for those things that he wants for us rather than looking around. So that's an important thing to keep in mind and as I go through some of these things it might seem like a lot of scattered information, but I pray that there will be something as we look through some of the things where you can find an application where there is an area of your own heart may be in asking the Lord. We've already talked about that today in the previous messages without the Walker and Sunday morning the health check our desires. We we really want the Lord to help us as we ask for things in a right way. So this is the foundation year. So he gives various things that should be true of this thing that they choose their other things. But first of all, he must be a man of God you're going to see that as we go through all this the different situations where there in stating the kingship if you will wear. This will be a man that God chooses and we're going to see Samuel as the first coordinator so to speak as he anoints the things with oil that's it something that you will find you throughout the wives of the other things as well. Where is a prophet of God who has been told by God that this is the man of God that I want to leave you so she must be a man of God. Second of all 15 one from among thy Brethren. So in other words, he must be a man from God's people. He's not supposed to be another Canaanite. He's not supposed to. He's not supposed to be in Egyptian. I mean, they already have their own and you can our country we have that established where the American president has to be someone who is a citizen of that country. So I'm in this is true for his real and Israelites. Alberta 16 and 17. He must be a man who trust God's provision and protection. If you don't want to fight yourself horses don't go to Egypt for the purpose of multiplying 4 and on top of that verse 17 don't multiply wives of Kings with this was true that they * * we're going to find that even when we look at today. So he's a man who trust God's provision and protection verses 18 through 20. He must be a man who goes and obeyed God's law. Is there supposed to be a team there in a book. I don't know that we find a lot of that evidence for a king's actually did this there are evidences where there are certain things which you know or other charge of people who would copy the volume up about that. He shall write a book. This isn't like aware. They talk about the urgency of this is a much more important than keeping track of your very own copy of years ago.

He's from another store. It's where I had my very own what I can call a compilation of the scriptures on the website that I never ended up putting up but yourself talking about what we have today Old Testament New Testament, you're going to have others added to that later on specially when you get to the line with the King David compiling things you have a bad side text Allison verse 19 keep the words of this law to do that. And also the permit to send the first 20 that is hard not be lifted up above his Brethren. You're going to see situations in the life of the kings were some people presumptuously took it upon themselves to say I thinking of you dial where he decided that he would take the role of a priest and go in and got struck with Leprosy from that point. So there are situations where Kings had chosen not to think that we're going to see you have some where God said that you do that was right in the eyes of the Lord and you have a couple word. That's true to the point where even though it was a really really good King joash and then he have other things which they did.

Save this point time. This was true of this King. Then you have other where they did that was an evil in the sight of the Lord and even in that sometimes you find a mix of good and bad enough some of them had even with the real you.

So what would it look at today the snapshot of some of the different categories?

So that's something that we are also chapter 18 verse 12 of proverbs 4 23 through 27. I'm talking about that very same thought one recruit looking to the right hand or to the left but staying on the straight and narrow way else on 119 verse about the king reading and knowing in obeying the law by where do I get in my heart that I might not sin against me? And also says that he may prolong his other words. He's not going to die prematurely in a certain sense and there's some scriptures we can put along with that as well Deuteronomy 5 verse 33 and then Proverbs chapter 3 verses 1 through 2, which see to that if you obey God then we'll be well with So first, we've looked at the prophecy of nurse Lee King in firstly and that's God's foreknowledge of man's Choice. Again. This is God knows this is going to happen. Secondly. Let's look at Mane Choice to reject God for that. I'd like to have you turn the first Samuel chapter 8. And so begins the process of the children of Israel and their desire for a king. 1st Samuel chapter 8 And it came to pass when Samuel was olds that he made his son's judges over Israel. Now the name of his firstborn was Joel the name of the second to buy and they were judges in their shemet and it took bribes and perverted judgement. So Daniel was considered to be a good man, but he had decided not to walk in his ways and as a result.

And all the Elders of Israel gathered himself together and came to Samuel Toronto and said unto him behold the king to judge other like all the nations that we heard those words before saying Deuteronomy chapter 17. This is exactly what God said. They would say And now they're asking for this very thing. We see Samuel reaction to this. The thing displeased Samuel when they said give us a king to judge us and Daniel Prayed unto the Lord and I did I think maybe there's a part of it and you'll was taking personal you because his sons were not walking in his way. But God Seventh-day Adventist the true motive behind why you're asking for a king. The words that mean the same yohar commence of the voice of the people in all that they say into the more they have not rejected the but they have rejected me that I should not rain over them. This is all because they have God. Is there any truth to Yonkers me up to that point, but they were going to now diver from that and ask for some Earthly Authority. And of course God knowing our hearts said he'll go ahead and give them what they want. I hope my message when you get what you want. They're getting what they want now and we're going to see the consequences of that. Reminder of now therefore hearken unto their voice. How do you get protests Elmo on to them and show them the mayor of the king that shall reign over them? And so in some ways to persuade them, although he already knows what way their heart and I Think About Numbers Chapter 11 Moses situation where they were murmuring against it because they didn't have enough food and their longing for the weeks in the onions and they wanted they wanted to me to put in between their teeth. So they asked for quails and know what God gave me quail, and some of you know the rest of the story and got my lunch yet. They are already but but that's when God judging them for that choice. So not only that there's an account at that in Psalm 106 where it speaks to that and Psalm 106 verses 13 through 15. And a lot of that is already mentioned James Chapter 4 verses 1 through 3. And so that's something for us to keep in mind for sure know what are we asking for? What are the reasons? Why were asking are we trying to take our we dissatisfied with the way that God has provided for us? So back in first Samuel chapter 8 you saying? Okay. Let me tell you the kind of team that you're going to have and then let's see if you really want the King after all. Either some different things that we're going to happen and kind of been summary here verses 10 through 18 this team would make you his servant. Are you expecting this person? That's just going to if it and they're going to confess it in verse number 19 here. We just want everything for us. But the thing says he'll he's going to take you he's going to force you to be his servant and you're going to do things for him so he can maybe get out of something here. You're actually putting yourself in some kind of bondage here to be in servitude to your king. So he's going to make you a service your Vineyards and getting them to his servant but he knows he's taking things from you give unto Caesar that which king of Israel at your who is going to get that which Tribune is due to have my tribute.

So I'll go ahead and read it after all of this because if you wanted this game will guess what this thing is going to make you cry. You're going to cry out to God. Because of your team which he had which you shall have chosen you and the Lord will not hear you in that day as the word made it clear that that's that wasn't his original intention. And so be careful what you ask for. God might actually give it to you. Nevertheless, but I guess that's really what they want in bondage to that. We may also be like all the nations we've heard that before again that Arcane Mage up and go out before you saying that is going out fighting your battles and one man against what army is going to win all there's only one answer to that and we know his name but And this this is not going to be the king of his going to fight your battles the way that they think he was going to fight the battles and then you'll hurt all the words of the people that you were her ears of the Lord and the Lord said to Samuel hearken unto their voice and make them a king. Daniel Sedin

That's okay. I'm going to give you what you want. So we have probably their desire there and their own self.

But that was what was on their heart. So now that we have this process started I dream now to point number to the pride of a chosen King the next in line here. We're going to look at the actual people here starting with k

And person that we see his appearance of humility just turning over maybe a cage or soda first thing. I'll chapter 9 we cease all Terriers versus number one that there is Amanda Benjamin.

Time to take note of that first of all and he had a son whose name was called a choice young man and a good lead and there was not a good leader person than a pretty stout looking fella.

So this is a description of this man still in the process of that. He's directed towards Samuel and God had already told Samuel be ready for this person when I'm going to send you and you're going to anoint him as king remember what it said back on 17. It would be a man chosen of God and God is showing Samuel this thing here. skip ahead 2 verse 15 now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear a day before sauteing saying tomorrow about this time. I will send you the amount out of the land of Benjamin and thou shalt annoyed Over My People Israel that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines is coming to me. Edwards stereo. Call the word synonym behold the man who my state to the yard, then the same shall ring shall reign over my people. Then told you I'm here to tell you in the game said tell me I pray thee where is the Sears house and then you'll answer so instead I am this year. And so then they were going to have a sacrifice and he was invited to the feast and they put him in a prominent place in the face and gave him a good portion of their bikes open smallest of the tribes of Israel and my family to me. I didn't think anything of that well. This is so definition of himself. And I have compared that against the first two verses. Are you seeing chapter number 9 you see that he comes from a towel and wipe our they're just talking about is being wealthy. So he he was a baby supposed to be true sometimes of us as we accept yourself. So he has a tumble U of M sell them.

So we see then at the beginning of chapter number 10 that he is Anointed as a king. And chosen to be so I notice in chapter number 10 verse number a we're looking at the life of sulfuric little bit today is not so much for going through the actual Kings themselves, but just to help to set the foundation again.

second chapter 10 members number 8 Thou shalt go down before me to gilgal it be cold. I will come down into these offer burnt offerings and the sacrifice sacrifice is a peace offering 7 Days shalt thou tarry till I come to the show me what Thou shalt. Do you clear instructions? There is wait for 7 days after he says wait 7 Days wait for me and then we're going to do this sacrifice. So we'll get to that point here. Just a moment. Convert 10 / 17 where we see that he is being accepted by the people now as the king verse 17 all the people together unto the Lord to miss her and said unto the Lord God of Israel. I brought up Israel out of Egypt.

Interesting out of the animal kingdom and he have this date rejected your God who himself saved you out of all adversities in your tribulation, and he obscenity king cobra yourself before the Lord by your tribes and buy you a thousand. So then they go through this process of narrowing down who the king actually did and it comes to us all but number 22 that he hit himself among the stuff of that stuff was But I guess he had trouble hiding because he was not the kind of person where we already talked about it. So I'll take a picture me if you can at a picture of an average size human being and then picture that someone someone shoulders come up to the top of my head. I know baby and maybe I'm taller than the people that's always around. But maybe they give you an idea of another one of those cases of false humility lyrics graciously.

But at any rate accepted as king verses 24 and 25 Samuel said all the people from the Lord has chosen that there is none like him among all the people God Save the King then Samuel told people the manner of the Kingdom in rooting in a book and laid it up before the Lord. So there is not only this fact that he was going to be their King. They're marking it down for all history to know that this is the decision that they made a court there's a record being made here about these people's decisions to make him their King. Skip ahead.

I already told me they got what they asked for in Samuel going to make sure that they are aware of that chapter 12 verse 1 and Now Behold The Bold and behold my sons are with you and I have walked for you from my childhood ends this day. MLB hold your team. So verses 6 through 11, he rehearses their history of the fact that no even through the Exodus in the times of the judges. They willingly rejected the authority that they had over that they have rejected God and being their leader and they've gone and serve other gods and that's verses 6 through 11 again. Then remind them of their history. Someone asks you do you really want that then you say well, I think it would be good for me and then that person well, what about this this and that now don't you think that maybe this is a bad decision well again, Making a record for alternate route off history. This is the decision that they chosen. Birthdays 1215 their independence the circumstance that led up to their decision here. Are they making all these other teams around and when we shall reign over us when the Lord your God was your king? Now they they wanted an Earthly leader that they could look at it reminds me of Exodus 32. This was up on on the mountain getting the Ten Commandments and the rest of the children of Israel until we know what's happened to him first 13. Now therefore behold the king whom you have chosen and whom you have desired. Behold the Lord has set a tent over you.

But he does have some grapes for the first number 14. If you will fear the lord and serve him and obey his voice and not Prevail against the Commandment of the Lord then shall both he and also the king that rain is over you continue following the Lord your God. But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord but rebelled against the Commandment of the Lord then shall the hand of the Lord be against you as it was against your bottles. When is the Lord First beginning of a second chance you want a king? I'll give you a king, but I still want you to serve me.

So then the rest of the group numbers 22:25 instead of getting chosen what was mentioned in verses 14 and 15?

So then the promise in verse 25 if you shall still be wickedly you shall be consumed bogie and your team. So hopefully some of the things that we go through that you'll see it repeated and you'll understand that your first of all God you all about this is going to happen and gone provision for them to do the right thing. But again given consequences that when they choose that God will not be their leader that if you will bring about the appropriate consequences. 1st Samuel 13 there verses 1 through 7 going to be taking place with the Philistine and they're they're setting up their armies. And you remember what was said back in chapter 10 verse number 8 instructions that Samuel had very clearly given to saw something that he was supposed to do and obey. What's the weather in 7 days for Samuel to come so that they could offer the sacrifice at gilgal the number 8 and he carried 7 Days according to the set time to Samuel had appointed by Samuel and Saul said bring hitter a burnt offering offering and he offered the burnt offering and it came to pass the whole song came and pretend that you're on the cusp of Temptation and that temptation is so strong and at the last minute you choose to give in and then right when that moment comes then it says if you're caught in the act as it happens here, no heat resistant. What is promising his word has made a way of escape to get out of that Temptation. And so we see solar fortunately succumbing to the desire to be the wrong things you disobey.

So this sacrificing and there's a consequence that comes with that Samuel Samuel said that the Lord thy God commanded thee for now with the Lord have established by Kingdom of Israel forever. But now by Kingdom shall not continue the Lord have thought him a man after his own heart and the Lord has commanded him to be Captain over to people because thou Hast not kept that with the Lord commanded thee so because he has now been taken out of that place of authority. Are you going to go see that the end of having Israel?

Is there history that would go through now? They suffered the consequences as well for asking for that but that's all himself received those consequences David but suffice it to say that skull with no longer God's man for the job and not even aware of that choice.

So a chapter 15 skip ahead a little bit.

Where solvents are rejected once and for all that you have the number number 3 there for you to do what you need to do. Now I know that God knows the future of this but at the same time he's getting a chance to perhaps redeem himself, which again God knows the answers what's going to happen? So We see him going through this trial here this assignment, but what happened we see in group number 9. assaulting people stared a gag in the best of the season of the Austin and of the fat ones in the Lambs and all that was good would not orderly destroy that you see the contrast there verse 3 verse 9 1st degree is what God wanted first. Nine is left all actually did God wanted him to utterly destroy from Saul the word of the Lord and he has shown that.

So tall is confronted by Samuel later years. He done the right thing. He's number 15 is some of his justification. They have brought them are the best of the shaping of the often not obedient unless it's complete obedience and the voice of the Lord which was the scripture not true at all. And the consequence again of this is that I verses 24 through 31. He is going to be rejected as came once and for all.

Settle your mind the details God wants us to be obedient to every detail of what God asks us to do and what God's word says let that be what guides us the directions I born if I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee. So next we see the promise of a Heavenly King. This is looking primarily at the life of David here for Samuel 16. We see a man of God arises. Don't hurt one thing you'll get in the instruction to go and seek him out from the house of Jesse Jesse the bethlehemite which is in the land of cheetah. Tell me going through we'd probably get familiar with the account where he's going through all the times. He's looking to do light up and you might have it kind of has that's all kind of bills to be the man. But God, of course free shirt and verse number seven the Lord looketh on the heart and that maybe was a mistake from a previously that could be learned from God looks at the heart. We all know. Look on the outward appearance. So they get to know the children of the word says this is the man and so David is chosen from the house of Jesse View and so over the course of this account gear solid has the Spear taken from him in trouble and I17 and Fishin and my courts to be able to refresh me. Oh, how about you Jackie? Let me take someone from your family and he's going to be my servant now to play an instrument for me so that I can be refreshed and so David is recruited. Of course that's in Providence that God would allow that because God has all the circumstances figured out how many ratebeer

so David is summoned to be the Servants of Saul here.

So I'll fast-forward through the life of David. That's something that has to walk into that second Samuel chapter 2 and these are some details in our Sunday school months ago that we looked at it when stalled as king over Judah 2nd and 2nd Samuel chapter 2 verses 1 through 7, and then finally chapter number 5 David is Anointed as king over the entire nation of Israel. So we seen at the man of God Arise now this look at the goddamn who would arise in the midst of this decision this choice of Israel to choose them.

Don't actually use that to.

Prepare the children of Israel for the king that would come from that was promised through the House of David. There's a prophecy of of the lineage of the king. That would always be sitting on the throne of David Kingdom there that's in 2nd Samuel chapter 7.

So now that David has become king over Israel. He has this moment where he's he's kind of feeling bad for God. Just had these curtains that he hides under and tell him that I will know that this is It's really just a place where we put the name of God Bloomfield Baptist Church. It is not the place and the only place where God abides but it is the place where God's name is you can find God but this is the only place where you find God and hopefully in our own private times were throughout the week as we fellowship with each other but not we can find God in our lives chapter number 7 and I'll start here we shall proceed and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name and I will stablish the Throne of his kingdom or ever.

I'm not just talking about a house and either there were talking about a lineage and it would be through the line of King David that eventually Messiah himself would come. God is working all these things together for good to accomplish his purposes here and the purpose being in this case that he is going to bring about the line on the side of here through David attendance was promised here in this chapter. So I can't hear those words forever. And so he said the verse 14 again giving more conditions things to take note of what we consider all the game. He says I will be his father and he shall be my son if he commits iniquity, I will chase but my Mercy shall not depart away from him that I took it away from stalls when I put away before the 8th and 9th house and I Kingdom shall be established forever Before the Throne shall be established forever. Reaffirming the same promises there and if you want more detail as far as that goes, you look and so David spends the rest of the chapter praising God for allowing him to be a part of this rating did the great prophecy.

God's man would arrive but God's plan would fall or by that I mean David. We see that in 2nd Samuel chapters 11 and 12 again going all the details of what happened but significant in the sense that David Ministry is never the same after this point. Just to give you an idea of what happens if you want to go forth to battle David and then from that point, he says he went off his rocker. So he went off duty off limits off track and then I'll go to ALDI Shenanigans to try to cover up his sin. But you see in chapter 12, they've been pointed out to him and giving him that parable of the Lambs and say that was humiliated. And so what does God say through Nathan to David concerning that he says now they're for the store too shall never depart from buying house because now has despised me and has taken in the white if your Ryan inside to be my wife. Saith the Lord. Behold, I will raise up evil against the out of thine own house and I will take it. I wiped before thine eyes and give them unto thy neighbor and he shall lie without a wife in the sight of the Sun for now, but I will do the same for all.

14 lbs because by this great occasion to the enemies of the name of God look bad because of what you did. American Deli in the Kingdom consequences that the sword would never depart from his house. You're going to find other things like that. Announce certain year in the life of David.

So up there is good that come from that relationship. However, because of Hawaii's King. phone number for there first choice for understanding Again, skipping over the rest of all of what happened in the life of King David. We now have a young King Solomon all the things you've mentioned earlier in the morning message and he may be wise choice due to wisdom and understanding rather than all the riches but you do see maybe him hugging himself up from there or Solomon 8 Affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt and took Pharaoh's daughter and brought her into the city of David until he had made an end of going to down house and the house of the Lord in the wall of Jerusalem roundabout. May be a sign of things to come.

So first number 6. This is part of Solomon's Prayer now to the Lord and acknowledging what he did for David his father and the fact that he is installed him as the and has filled the promise of David said that there will always be someone son sitting on his throne.

So no pointing out his own inadequacy here verse 7 and now oh Lord my God how it's made night. Servant King instead of David my father. I am but a little child and I know it's not how to go out and come in and is in the midst of my people which now has chosen the great people that cannot be numbered are counted for multitude. And this is where he asked for understanding and discernment and again a white thing in TV does not give him exceeding abundantly above all that. He thinks you're asked to be 20 and he received riches from God as its promise you I'm going to give you the riches domastic itself. Well, but the contract. That God is the one. And the difference here is that God is allowing Solomon to I'll have all of these riches what will Sullivan

We will see about that property verses 3 through 9 again talk about the value of wisdom. And that's what we ourselves should ask for they'll let him ask of God and give it to all men liberally and upbraideth not. So it's 14 again as it sold to other things and other places already up to this point as I Father David did walk then I will lengthen by days then going back to do Toronto me 17 verse 20 that was the problems associated with obeying the law of the Lord. Set a second leap year not only choice for understanding but a plea for Mercy but this is the dedication of the temple now. And I want you to all the verses here. But that again in Thor versus he's acknowledging god of the promise to allow a man to be on the phone with the line of David allowing him to be the one that threw David promise to build the Temple of verses 28 through 45 Yuan convert 53.
