Introduction

How much is enough?
Is God enough? YES
What will eternity be like?
What will it be like to live with God forever?
These are questions that we all have asked from time to time.
Today, we will try to answer these questions...

The New Creation: the new heaven and earth. (1)

God originally created the earth and heaven to be our permanent home. (Gen. 1-3)
But sin and death entered the world and transformed the earth into a place of rebellion and alienation; it became enemy-occupied territory.
However, God has been working in salvation history to affect a total reversal of this evil consequence and to liberate earth and heaven from bondage to sin, corruption, and death.
This passage is the culmination of this work.
New or fresh as opposed to old or stale.
Not the same made anew. A completely brand new thing. Never seen before.
No more sea? Sea symbolizes chaos and lack of control. The beast came out of the sea.
“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.” (, NKJV)

The New City of God (2)

This will be a new capital city of God.
This will be a New Jerusalem as opposed to the Old Jerusalem.
Old: Place of failure, rebellion, falling short, the rejection and murder of Christ.
New: place adorned as a bride, coming down from heaven, made by God ().
By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” (, NKJV)

Eternal Fellowship with God (3)

Tabernacle: to dwell, take up residence
OT: temporary dwelling, moved in and out, cloud and fire
Now: permanent dwelling, the ever abiding presence of Almighty God with us
The presence of God will be with men. Moses, Jesus, Now
I will set My tabernacle among you, and My soul shall not abhor you. I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.” (, NKJV)

The Perfection of All Things (4-6)

Life will be perfected
No more death
No more sorrow
No more crying
No more pain
All manifestations of the Fall will be destroyed.
So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”” (, NKJV)
God assures it!
He assures it by His word/Write, true and faithful
He assures it by His power and sovereignty/ Alpha and Omega, One and Only
He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” (, NKJV)
Insurance
Assurance tied into salvation. ()
Water of life
Fountain, not a trickle
To him who thirst, whosoever will

The Choice (7-8)

He who overcomes
I shall give him these things...
Be his God and he shall be My son, ownership, family, intimacy, closeness, Abba Father
But the cowardly...
Ungodly, rejected Christ offer
Second death? Spiritual death
Separation from God
Eternal destiny to hell, lake which burns with fire
Place reserved for Satan and his own
He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”” (, NKJV)

Jesus Paid It All!

Came as a babe
Lived a sinless life
