The Reason For Rest
Hebrews 3
The Israelites did not enter the Lord’s rest as a result of their disobedience and unbelief.
They could not believe that the Lord would do what He had said.
THis led to disobedience as they responded out of fear and not faith.
It is in fear that our faith is not rooted in the same manner as the Israelites that we are to build one another up and be honest with ourselves about whether or not we believe.
Many of us have sought to white knuckle ourselves into looking right on the outside.
In the desire to look as if we are in the place of rest, we have cleverly designed facades and placed ourselves on pedestools or hidden behind our good deeds.
Noe of this helps though to make right the soul.
The inside is still stained with disbelief.
This mentality is the continuation of the same sin that led to their unrest.
True protection only comes as we allow the word to be laid over our lives.
We can not read the word like the newspaper.
Hebrews 4:12-
Hebrews 4:12-1
Real rest begins as we recognize that it is not possible apart from God.
Then we must link ourselves to God.
We must bare ourselves before Him because everything that we hold on to will lead us out of rest.
We must become yoked with Christ
