That Name Jesus

Intro: If we were to ask people on the street to list the three most important things in their lives we might hear things like, family, God, career, wealth, and a myriad of other commonly shared values. What I do not think we would hear many claim to be of vital importance in their life is “a good name.” A good name is one’s reputation, and specifically an honorable reputation.
According to good name is better than riches; it is greater than silver and gold.
Today we will take a look at what the name of Jesus is compared to that of any other name. I hope that by the time we finish today, you and I will be able to say, “there’s no name like the name of Jesus.”
Philippians 2:9 NKJV
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
Philippians 2:9 NKJV

A Purposeful Name

Matthew 1:21 NKJV
And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”

The name Jesus means to deliver; to rescue
The deliverer of a lost and misguided man/woman.
The rescuer of self guided nonredeemable humanity.

A Beautiful Name

The beauty comes when we understand what He has done for us,
The Beauty of His name is only subjective if you don’t know Him.
Poem: I know of a name, A beautiful name, That angels brought down to earth; They whispered it low, One night long ago, To a maiden of lowly birth.
That beautiful Name, That beautiful Name, From sin has power to free us! That beautiful Name, That wonderful Name, That matchless Name is Jesus!

A Sweet Name

That sweet name ensures me that He cares
1 Peter 5:7 NKJV
casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

3. That sweet name reveals that He’s watching over His children.
How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds   In a believer’s ear! It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,   And drives away his fear,   And drives away his fear,   And drives away his fear, It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,   And drives away his fear.

His name demands reverence.
Philippians 2:10–11 NKJV
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

2. His name demonstrates power
John 1:3 NKJV
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
There is power in the name of Jesus that breaks chains, sets the captive free, sets wrongs right, and binds up the broken.
Conclusion: The world has never known a name like Jesus. What has that name done for you?
