Matthew 8:28–29 ESV
And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”
Introduction:
Ephesians 6:10–12 ESV
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Let’s be aware that there is a Spiritual Realm
Ephesians 6:12 ESV
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 2:1–4 ESV
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
Ephesians 1:20–21 ESV
that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
So these Demons ask Jesus a question...

Demons Know who Jesus is

The question the demons asked, humans should be asking.
Humans do not ask because they do not know who Jesus is.
They ask what do you have to do with us, because they know who Jesus is.
Mark 3:10–11 ESV
for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed around him to touch him. And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”
also in Lk 4:40-41
Acts 19:15 ESV
But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?”
James 2:19 ESV
You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
A Demons belief in Jesus is greater than mans.
However the demons belief does not bring salvation.
This let’s us know that belief/ faith alone cannot save...
You must also submit to the authority of Jesus in your life...

Demons Know the Authority of Jesus

Man like those in the Spiritual realm must yield or submit to God’s authority or be forcefully made subject to it.
Currently God is long suffering, He had at one time given man a break to know His authority
Acts 17:30 ESV
The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,
The authority and power of God is immeasurable it is omnipotent...
Ephesians 1:19–22 ESV
and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church,
Demons know that power and authority...
Humans will come to know that authority, willingly or unwillingly...
Philippians 2:9–10 ESV
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
The question, “What Have You to do with us, Son of God?” ought ot be asked by all creation.
We are not left to guess if we would follow His Word.
The sad commentary is, the question has been previously been answered in the Bible.
Unfortunately we don’t ask very good questions.
So our creator has helped us out by revealing to us His Word.
In it we have the answer to all life's important questions...
Demons understand that judgement is coming...

Demons Know their time is short

Matthew 8:29 ESV
And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”
There is only so much time to get answers for life’s important questions..
Hebrews 9:27 ESV
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
Demons know their time is short how about humans???
2 Peter 2:4 ESV
For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment;
Demons are aware of this activity and rightfully are afraid of Jesus...
Jude 6 ESV
And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—
What have you to do with us, Son of God?
More than Demons should be asking this questions.
You and I need to ask this question...
