Our Sacred Damaged Conscience

Point of tension: What in the world is wrong with the world.
--Membrane between life and death constantly poked

Your conscience is sacred

--It is that part of you that taps in to the realm of God.

2 IMPORTANT TRUTHS

1. You Were Born Into The “Do It Yourself Life” --- Never Good Enough

 and God has bound all men over to disobedience

 to those under the law so that every mouth may be silenced

2. The purpose of your Christianity is the salvation of your soul

Our Sacred Damaged Conscience

1. THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR CONSCIENCE

Clear Conscience
1 Timothy 1:18–19 NIV - Anglicised
Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.
The gifts and sacrifices not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper
Hebrews 9:9–10 NIV - Anglicised
This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshipper. They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order.

2. MANKIND WAS CREATED NAKED (A perpetual vacuum for worth and value)

Just like a fish was created to live in water so we were created to live inside of right-standing with God … that is the love and good opinion of God

3. BEFORE PARTAKING OF THE “DO IT YOURSELF TREE” MAN LIVED WITH A PERFECT CONSCIENCE (Perpetual neediness fulfilled by the good opinion of God)

A perfect conscience is one in which the the vacuum is positively filled
Shame and condemnation scar a person’s conscience
The vacuum is no longer positively filled
 They were both naked and felt no shame

The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
Before the fall, Adam and Eve did not recognize that they were naked because they lived complete, and fully fulfilled, in the Glory of God
Adam & Eve lived in God’s good opinion--God’s total and complete right-ness/ righteousness LOVE)
The state of being unclothed speaks of being in a Vacuum / Perpetually needy
But they were clothed in the good opinion of God

4. AFTER PARTAKING OF THE “DO IT YOURSELF TREE”, MAN’S CONSCIENCE WAS DAMAGED

In a vacuum (for worth and value) without a way to positively fill it… ie no way to be right/
 They realized they were naked and immediately tried to be righteous by sewing fig leaves (desirable for gaining wisdom)

6. YOUR CONSCIENCE CAN BE HEALED TODAY

 Clothes yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ

Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourself with Christ.

How to clothe yourself with Christ

Receive God’s provision for living in His good opinion

1. Humble yourself to accept that you can never be right without God

Humbly accept the word planted in you

2. Leave the “Do it yourself” way of life

All who rely on observing the law are under a curse

3. Receive that you died with Christ at the cross

4. Renew your mind with the truth that sets you free

Truth will make you free

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind
