Introduction
Video
Today we begin our Christmas series. I’m calling it, Simple Christmas. For many the Christmas season turns into a stressful time, filled with shopping, decorating, and many other activities. Rarely do we ever really settle down and enjoy the amazing season that Christmas is. We are too distracted to really just enjoy the simplicity of Christmas. I want to encourage you the next few weeks to focus on the simplicity of this amazing season. I understand the difficulty but there is such a beautiful simplicity to be discovered.
This morning I want to encourage us as we look to the simplicity of Christmas to set aside the chaos and worship more.
Read: Psalm 95:1-7
When life seems to be too much, when you are missing the people that you love that are no longer here. When Christmas feels like a financial burden. We need to be able to look up, we must be willing to seek more worship because the reality is when we worship Him we are worshiping...
Application:

The God Who is Sovereign Over All

I believe that when we can understand that God truly is sovereign it is then we can rest in the simplicity of Christmas. Sovereignty is the Biblical teaching that God possesses all power and is the ruler of all things. Do you believe this? Let’s look at it a little closer.
Psalm 95:1–5 ESV
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.
This is truly the beauty of God’s sovereignty. As we struggle in this life we must remember that God is in control and that we have an opportunity to focus in on that truth. A.W. Tozer once said, “The sovereign God wants to be loved for Himself and honored for Himself, but that is only part of what He wants. The other part is that He wants us to know that when we have Him we have everything - we have all the rest.”- A.W. Tozer
Isn’t this an amazing truth?! I don’t know about you, but I have worried, I have been restless, and I have found myself trying to make things happen in my own life for far too long. I too need to learn to that God in His sovereignty is all that we need. More worship is what we need this Christmas season. It’s time to come to the throne of God and bow down in worship.
Psalm 95:6–7 ESV
Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice,
Conclusion: Church, let me encourage you this morning to look up. Look up to Jesus. Look up to His grace and mercy. Don’t let the enemy bog you down with stress and uncertainty. There is too much beauty in Christmas to miss the opportunity for more worship. Are you here this morning with too much baggage? Are you less than thrilled for Christmas because of stress or sadness? It’s time to give it up to Jesus. It’s time that you understand the God is sovereign and desires that you lean on Him this Holiday season and beyond. Will you give it all up to Him and enjoy the simplicity of Christmas?
