1. Broken and still Blessing!
are you a Carnal Christian or a Spirit led disciple?
Zachariah was without an heir and on top of that he had no son.
this state of Childlessness led to some problems:
they might have been seen as having some “hidden sin” (they where judged spiritually).

they had no one to care for them beyond there ability to care for themselves.
they served anyway.
we are the people of God.
anymore it’s hard to get people to to serve,
people who are Going to grow in faith need to be able to be counted on when things aren’t just peachy.
our witness is when things happen to us, not because we display some “Image” of plastic piety.
this is why we need the word of God to penetrate our minds and transform our thinking.
we need relationships with real brothers and sisters.
service is a great way to get to know people.
it’s a great way to learn how to actually live this out.
2. God moves again after 400 years of silence
in this passage God moves after not moving for 400 years of not saying anything.
they where occupied by the Romans.
it’s easy to see how a person could get discouraged.
Just because God hasn’t yet, doesn't mean he wont.
3. God likes to mess up our ‘perfect plans’ with his powerful proclamation.
He was burning incense at the how of prayer.
A priest would only get to do this once in His life if at all.
Gabriel which means God is my hero gives an announcement that Zachariah will be a father.
that he is to be called John, means the God of favor, or the God of Grace, (Zacharia) by the way means that God remembers.
John will be filled with the spirit from his mothers womb.
he will be great in the eyes of God and of man.
he will be set apart in the midst of a people who are set apart (sacrifice, is sometimes part of the christian life).
John the baptist, Ministered in the spirit of Elijah, to turn many of the Children of Isreal back to The Father.
As parents we need to turn our hearts back toward are Children.
what are some reasons we are hearts are not turned:
shame.
fear
sorrow
pain.
what can we do?
we can ask God to deal with our shame.
we can take our divided hearts to God.
we can ask God to deal with our sarrow.
we can ask Him to deal with our pain.
4. Godly People are real people and have
doubts.
Zechariah had huge doubts.
so God allowed him to be silent.
Sabbaticals are sometimes God sent.
they give us a time to deal with God in silence.
Elizabeth responds differently to God then her husband.
they served in their reproach, and they rejoiced in their burden lifting.
