As a Man Thinks in His Heart - So is He

Prov
Proverbs 23:7 KJV 1900
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee.
Attitude is key to virtually everything in life! Creflo Dollar has made an interesting observation on this scripture. He said: “The comma is misplaced in this verse. It should read: "For as he thinketh, in his heart so is he." See for another misplaced comma.”
Another key issue very closely related is how your view yourself. What is your identity? There are two possibilities . . .
You can be a victorious overcomer; or
Creflo Dollar
You can be a victim!
The bible tells me to be transformed by the renewing of my mind!
Romans 12:2 KJV 1900
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Who am I?

1. I am a new creation

2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV 1900
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2. I am an ambassador with Christ

I am an ambassador with Christ (II Corinthians 5:20)
2 Corinthians 5:20 KJV 1900
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

3. I am seated with Him in heavenly places

I am seated with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6)
Ephesians 2:6 KJV 1900
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
I am more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37)

4. I am more than a conqueror

Romans 8:37 KJV 1900
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
The Greater One lives within me (I John 4:4)

5. The Greater One lives within me

1 John 4:4 KJV 1900
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
And on and on and on . . .
OR, am I this poor sinner, saved by grace? This victim mentality will determine many things about my life - one of them being my health! Think about this . . .
Am I a sick person trying to get well; or
Am I a healed person resisting sickness?
Which one of these I see myself as will determine how I view sickness! The bible clearly says . . .

I am healed . . .

Isaiah 53:5 KJV 1900
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon him; And with his stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:6 KJV 1900
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned every one to his own way; And the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

I was healed . . .

1 Peter 2:24 KJV 1900
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
My healing will begin inside me . . .
Matthew 12:34–37 KJV 1900
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
I have to see myself as a redeemed, healed, overcoming, more than a conqueror person IN CHRIST! My attitude toward sickness is that it is an illegal intruder in my life - it has no place in my body! Resist the devil and he will flee (). Take authority - as I think in my heart, so am I!
Romans 12:2 KJV 1900
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
This word transform is from the Greek μεταμορφόω (mĕtamŏrphŏō, met-am-or-fŏ´-o); from Strongs 3326 and 3445; to transform (lit. or fig.“metamorphose”):—change, transfigure, transform.

Which world am I going to live in?
The world of sickness; or
The world of healing?
We can be like Moses . . .
Deuteronomy 34:7 KJV 1900
7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
Deuteronomy 30:19–20 KJV 1900
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
It is a matter of sowing and reaping . . .
Galatians 6:7–9 KJV 1900
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Aging happens! However, along with aging it is possible to maintain your health . . .
Isaiah 40:31 KJV 1900
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run, and not be weary; And they shall walk, and not faint.
Sickness is an illegal intrusion into my body! I have to take dominion over it! I don’t have to be conformed to what the doctor says! Rather, I can be conformed to what God says!
The doctor says: “You have diabetes!”
God says that by the stripes of Jesus I was healed!
Who am I going to believe?

Do not be double minded . . .

James 1:5
James 1:6–8 KJV 1900
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Rick Renner has some interesting insights into this scripture . . .
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Who am I going to believe?
This is God's personal opinion about a wavering person. God is literally saying: "I know this is my child - but that is freakish behavior!"Who am I going to believe?
double minded
My Doctor?
Greek = dipsychos = doubting. "di" means two; "psychos" means the soul. A literal translation would be "a man with two souls." A paraphrase could be "a man with two heads." A man with two heads is unstable in all his ways. We would call a man with two heads a freak.
unstable
Greek = akatastatos = restless; unstable. A habitual vacillation. It begins with a vacillation in his faith, then spreads to everything he does in life! It all started at the root of not standing still in his faith! This shows the vital importance of standing still, firm in our faith.
ways
Greek = hodos = every road of life that he travels on. Unstable in all his ways means a habitual vacillation on every road of life that he travels on.
So, who am I going to believe . . .
My Doctor?
WebMD?
God?
Be very careful about self-diagnosing. Wow! I think I have those symptoms! I must be coming down with - “whatever!”
James 4:8 KJV 1900
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
As a man thinks in his heart so is he! Who am I? I have to establish this in my heart! What things will I allow to come into my body? Who am I going to believe? What am I going to believe? Do I believe what I see - or do I believe what God’s word says?
Romans 4:17 KJV 1900
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
A double-minded person is unstable in all their ways! Settle it in my heart - NOW!
Romans 10:10 KJV 1900
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
With my heart I believe - with my mouth I receive. This is true with salvation as well as healing! My heart will determine my destiny! What is in my heart? Within the context of this study, my heart determines my health! The joy of the Lord is my strength!
Keep your heart . . .
Proverbs 4:23 KJV 1900
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.
Jerry Savelle makes the point here that my eyes and ears are the gateway to my heart!
It is also worthwhile to examine the verses that immediately precede this one . . .
Proverbs 4:20–22 KJV 1900
20 My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh.
My heart is the center of my life! It is who I am!

Guard your heart . . .

Philippians 4:8 KJV 1900
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
This verse tells me how to live! This is telling me how to think! What things am I allowing to occupy my mind? Fear? The things I allow to occupy my mind will determine my future!
Whatsoever things are true: The world is full of untruth! What am I watching? What am I listening to? What kind of things make me angry? I don’t have to live in their world!
Whatsoever things are honest: What am I allowing into my heart through my eye and ear gateways?
Whatsoever things that are just:
Whatsoever things are pure:
Whatsoever things are lovely:
Whatsoever things are of good report:
These things tell me how to decorate my house! With the heart man believes! What I allow into my heart affects the factory of my faith! My physical body will react to that which is within! What I sow, I will reap!

The Fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22 KJV 1900
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Galatians 5:22–23 KJV 1900
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Galatians 5
Gal 5:22-
Faith is a fruit of the Spirit! Faith is the result of a relationship! Faith is a result of being a part of the vine. Jesus said, “apart from Me you can do nothing”! These are the attitudes of a healthy person! The more you walk in the attitude of the fruit of the Spirit, the more it will translate into health for your body. The reverse is also true.

Happiness Equals Good Health . . .

Proverbs 17:22 KJV 1900
22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: But a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Proverbs 17:22 The Message
22 A cheerful disposition is good for your health; gloom and doom leave you bone-tired.
3 John 2 KJV 1900
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
John Guzik notes: The word for prosper literally means “to have a good journey.” It metaphorically means to succeed or prosper. It is like saying, “I hope things go well for you.” “Both verbs [for prosper and be in health] belonged to the everyday language of letter writing” (Stott). This phrase as so common that sometimes it was condensed into only initials, and everyone knew what the writer meant just from the initials. The abbreviation used in Latin was SVBEEV, meaning Si vales, bene est; ego valeo—“If you are well, it is good; I am well.”

Releasing Healing

We prosper on the level of the word we have in us. (KCM)
Many Christians have failed to realize all that it means to have The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit living within them. We have been transformed by the Spirit of God and we are one spirit with Him. If Jesus lives within us by the Spirit, then all that He is is within us! His life - Zoe - abundant life is in us. (This would include healing). Paul said that he no longer lived but Christ lived in him and he now lived by the faith of the Son of God. Paul was declaring that Jesus lived within and the faith of Jesus was the faith that Paul was using to live. (Human faith or God faith - our choice!) Therefore, healing is a part of our reborn spirit nature. (I have the mind of Christ. I have peace that passes all understanding. Jesus is made unto me wisdom. Healing is in me too!) All of this is IN HIM and He is in me! He is in me and I am IN HIM! Most Christians see healing as coming from outside of them - probably from above. They see themselves as sick trying to get well. They pray and ask and hope that something from outside of them will touch them. Healing is within me! Of course when Jesus walked the earth and healed all who came to Him, He was indeed outside of the sick and hHe healed them from the outside. But now, He lives within us and healing power is within us. When we deal with sickness in our bodies and we see ourselves as the healed resisting sickness rather than the sick trying to get healed. Sickness is an illegal intruder that must be expelled from our bodies
Healing is within me! Of course when Jesus walked the earth and healed all who came to Him, He was indeed outside of the sick.
We speak to our bodies by the Spirit. The physical must submit to the spiritual. The visible must submit to the invisible (). I have the fulness of Christ in me ()! Complete means complete! All of the healing we need is available to us through our reborn spirit - which is one with God. (Do you believe that?) Healing comes from within and we release it with our words - with our attitude, with out thoughts and with our actions! We act on the word. We speak the word. We think the word. We see the healing!
It isn’t so much that we ask God to release healing. Healing has been released since Jesus walked on the earth and certainly since He arose from the dead. It is more a matter of us releasing the healing that God has already released.
Don’t accept the lies of the devil. To do so means we are conforming to this world and we are double minded - and we know what the bible says about being double-minded! You have to purify your heart - you double-minded!
Ephesians 3:20 KJV 1900
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
The power for my healing is within me! I have abundant life within me! Why do I live so far below that abundant possibility. Why isn’t the possibility a reality?
Matthew 9:27–29 KJV 1900
27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. 28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
Keep these truths in my heart until they become a reality!
When we have a clear understanding and revelation of faith and an understanding that the Healer lives within we are on the way to seeing the manifestation of healing. If you can see it with the eyes of faith, you can receive it.
It all has to do with my attitude, my heart. There are no shortcuts, you must get alone with God. Get in the word and ask God to reveal this to you. Ask God to reveal to you that He is your healer living inside you. See health. See deliverance from diabetes! It’s in there. Ask God to make it a revelation to you! See deliverance from bad eyes and ears! It’s in there!
