APPLICATION: Prices law.

Prices law states that the square root of the participants will produce 1/2 the output. If 25 people, then 5. If 100 people, then 10. If 10000 people then 100. In the church this is pretty accurate. We have about 70 people in the church. Square root of 70 is 8 and that’s about the number of people in leadership who do most of the work. https://expressingthegeniuswithin.com/prices-law-and-how-it-applies-to-everything/

The good news is: that’s normal and accurate and completely unsurprising.
Did God design it that way? INSERT v. 7 — maybe only a handful are supposed to do 1/2 the work.
What we know:
Everyone has a gifting.
Everyone has a job to do in the church that extends beyond merely attending worship services and personal devotional practices—an actual work.
What we need to explore in this message: Is God calling ALL or just SOME Christians to be highly involved in the work of the church.
The bad news is: that’s not supernatural gifting being carried out by the body of Christ, which is what is being described in this passage.
(CSB)
He took the captives captive (cf. light yoke) (v. 8)

He called some to equip (v. 11)
He called all to work (v. 12)
Somewhere along the line it was changed to some work and some sit.
Emphatic answer: all are called to be highly involved.
Those who don’t work:
will be tossed around by winds of false teaching
will be distracted from the truth by human cunning
are at best a week part of the body or at worst not at all

7 Now grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

When he ascended on high, he took the captives captive; he gave gifts to people.,
he took the captives captive;
8 For it says: When he ascended on high, he took the captives captive; he gave gifts to people.,
he gave gifts to people.,
9 But what does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower parts of the earth?,
10 The one who descended is also the one who ascended far above all the heavens, to fill all things. 11 And he himself gave
some to be apostles, (sent ones) — polemic: everyone goes their own way; we go Christ’s way, we are sent. - meh

apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 equipping the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness. 14 Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit. 15 But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head—Christ. 16 From him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building up itself in love by the proper working of each individual part.
some prophets, — polemic: in a world of subjective truth, prophets declare the objective truth of God.
11 And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 equipping the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness. 14 Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit. 15 But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head—Christ. 16 From him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building up itself in love by the proper working of each individual part.
some evangelists, — polemic: the news is bad; we need good news.
some pastors and teachers, — polemic: don’t follow the crowd; why we need shepherd/teachers
