It is an expansion of 9:27—the subject is the danger of spiritual disaster . . .

• Paul can be, 9:27

• Our fathers, 10:1

• Us/we, 10:6

Structure of Chapter 10 revolves about three words

• “For”—10:1

• “But”—10:5

• “Now”—10:6

The blessings of Israel, 10:1-4

• They experienced a dramatic deliverance, vv. 1-2: Baptism—the emphasis is on identification

• They experience daily provision, vv. 3-4: 1) ‘Spiritual’ food—it came from God (provision); 2) It also typifies Christ; 3) God provided yet Israel fell—why?: a) Attitude (Num. 13)—total lack of faith; b) Action—I Cor. 10:6-10

• The value of their actions, v. 6 (examples for us)

What are the nature of them?

• Their cravings, v. 6a: The issue is that they desired something in place of God’s provision
