Introduction

so at my school I’m a student leader, i help plan and run events, attend meetings, drive the hot shots around, I essentially work for the school. Last year i interviewed for the position and they finally accepted me and added me to the team. This was my third year applying and my fifth interview, i had to work for that position. My last two years at the school i would volunteer for events, host my own things, served wherever i could so they would know who i am and actually hire me for the position i wanted, and after two years i got it. i had to work and earn it.
lets pray
Luke (a physician) has been building a gospel showing that Jesus has all authority over all things. While Satan was offering authority and power in chapter 4 (verses 6 and 7) Christ denies, and why? because he has authority, all authority. He shows authoritative teaching (4:28-36), authority to heal and rebuke demons (4:38-44), authority to call (5:1-11), authority to reverse the effects of sin (5:12-16), authority to forgive sin (5:17-26), authority to call sinners (5:27-32) and he ends it with an authoritative claim that he is the Son of Man and Lord on the sabbath (6:5).
Jesus had been exercising his authority until this point to show his royal lineage with the father, now his actions shift. Jesus had spent the night in prayer to the Father, christ has spent numerous hours alone in prayer with the father, crying our to God in solitude. Christ had given all of his attributive power to the father so he was solely dependent on Christ. He needed God to discern the 12 from the 72, Christ leaned on prayer, if the Son of the most high did why shouldn't we.
Jesus went forth to his people after descending from the hill and there he looked out at the 72 and called out the 12 that were to follow him. He chose a hated tax collector, a dyer, a anarchist nationalist, a physician and four fishermen. All (except Judas) being a bunch of backwater Galilean country boys. They are unknown common folk. none rich, none noble, no scribe amongst them, nor priest, ruler or elder. they were the most common of men. but He looked out at a bunch of nobody's and saw a bunch of somebody's.

12 Now it happened that in these days he went away to the mountain to pray, and was spending the whole night in prayer to God. 13 And when day came, he summoned his disciples and chose from them twelve, whom he also named apostles: 14 Simon (whom he also named Peter) and his brother Andrew, and James, and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, 15 and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, 16 and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

Andrew, peter, james john are fishermen
matthew is the tax collector
simon is the anarchist,
judas iscariot is a dyer
luke the physician
this realistically is the most rag tag under qualified group of men, why would they be chosen to serve the most high. But nonetheless these misfits swept through the ancient world with grace spreading a message of hope. Now their names are forever engraved on the foundations of new Jerusalem () (except Judas, the name of Matthias stands in his place).
but its important to understand they didnothign for this call, this efective calling was all on Jesus, there is nothing these men did to be selected for Christs inner circle, and there realistically isnt anythign they could ever do to recieve this position.
