Purpose

1 Kings 19:19–21 ESV

So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast his cloak upon him. And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him.

you have a purpose

and the key to unlocking your purpose is in preparing for your destiny

preparing for the defining moment in your life

that God experience that we all need

And in order for you to figure all that out

you must be watchful

you must be steadfast

you must be alert

See all of these moments occur when the potential that God placed with in us in the first place comes in to contact with the one and only God

our creator

From there

within a moment, you can be launched

catapulted into the predestined, preordained purpose that God assigned over you life in the beginning.

if you look a tthe scripture that i just read indepthly a couple of things stand out to me

see Elisha was busy

he was busy doing what he was suppose to be doing

he wasn't just trying to fill time and just be busy

he was busy with a purpose

and then the number 12 stuck out to me as he was plowing with 12 oxen

just a tid bit

i dont know if you know what the number 12 means, but it is considered a perfect number, is that it symbolizes God's power and authority, as well as serving as a perfect governmental foundation. It can also symbolize completeness

But what stood out most was that was that when Elijah passed, he threw his mantle onto elisha

I believe that these are some the most vital keys to understanding and recognizing your destiny and its defining moments

1st he was busy

he wasnt happhazzerdly filling time

but in that time he was doing the normal thing

he was doing his job

He was being a good steward with what God had initially given him

he wasnt chasing a dream before its time

See one of the things that we do today is that we are so focused on OUR dream

with our own preconcieved notions on how something is supposed to look the we miss God

we miss that moment

ie william mcdowell

ie what it was suppose to look like (moving to clinton)

And what we see is not necessarily what he sees

and when we come to his realization our theology gets all messed up

and the thing is that all these things,

this process is not necessarily comfortable

see we take our processes and thin k that we can help God along the way

but there is a problem with that

we just get in the way

we just mess things up

see our ways are not his way, and his thoughts are not our thoughts

But the biggest problem is that when we plan it out, what it does is that it really discounts the power of the moment

See in order to plan it involves process

something that god already did

and it is when we throw our own two cents in we are saying

hey i dont trust you, the creator of the earth to get this right

you need my help

i know a better way

i know a more effective way

and evitably we mess things up

LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING THOUGH

HE DOESNT NEED OUR HELP

I mean he created the whole world and everything in it

God already created and ordained the moment

let me say it again

he doesnt need our help

all we need to do is align with the process

now don’t get me wrong

i am not saying don’t dream

im not saying dont have a process or how you do things

but i am saying, dont get married to your way

I mean get it straight, it was the father who put the plan and dream in your heart in the first place

and he will complete that plan

the problem comes along when we thing we know better or we focus on our dream more than we do HIS

See it is the moment that we exalt our dream

our plan over the power of god tat we miss it

In 1 kings 19:19 Elisahs moment happened in the blink of an eye

he wasnt thinking about it

he wasnt dwelling on it

but he was out there getting stinky and sweaty

being a good steward of what he did have

and in the blink of an eye, elijah came and threw his mantle on elisha

do you get it?

see one moment he was plowing a field and BOOM the next moment his life was radically changed

and it is the same for us

you can not arrange or design your god given ordained moment

see Elisha recognized his moment

and see that is the key

recognizing the moment when it comes

you need to stop focusing on the moment and how it is suppose to look from your stand out

see that is the problem that many of us have.

and because of that we end up missing God

1 Kings 19:20 ESV

And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?”

it says that he RAN after Elijah

he ran after his moment

he recognized it and he went after it

he didnt sit there and try to figure out what had happened

but he knew that something extravagant had happened and he needed to go get it

but that is where we fall short

see we dont recognize that moment mostly because we are to in-tuned with our own ordained moment

and if it doesnt look like that, we miss it

Elisha recognized what had happened

and you need to recognize what is going on

recognize your moment

but if you are too busy trying to ordain your own moment you are going to never recognize the exact ordained moment that is supposed to propel your life into greatness.

So stop focusing on the moment and how its suppose to look from your stand point

But focus on the creator of the moment

and like elisha it will drop in a moments time

ie. computers and bianary code

- dont wait for the moment but be prepared to expect

dont wait for the moment but be prepared to expect

you have to understand that you do not ordain the moment

and the key is that in order for us to be trusted with a moment that we have to be good stewards with what we have

Elisha was being a good steward with what he was given

And to many of us are to busy chasing the dream with in us and not being good stewards with what we were given

and that is what he was doing

he was plowing the ground

KIND OF SYMBOLIC RIGHT

And when that moment hit, he responded right

we need to recognize the moment and we need to respond correctly

So answer one question for me?

are you a good steward of what God gave you?

As I am convinced that one of the secrets to increase in the kingdom is ultimately this one exact thing

and that is do you steward well what the father has already given you

see it is how you handle that, that God can trust you with more

matt 25:23, Jesus references the principle of stewardship

And it is in 1 kings 19:19 it was not extravegant

see we want a show

we want a cloud of witnesses as the lights are flashing and the smoke machine is going

we have to have meetings and conferences to get this thing done right

but see Elisha didnt have any of those things

We didnt prepare for the moment,

but the moment was prepared for him

See elisha was out plowing the field when all of a sudden

yes he had a suddenly

and in the moment, Elijah threw his mantle upon Elisha

and it was that within that time that elisha had positioned himself correctly to recieve

see he was at the right place at the right time

and the problem today, we are to busy trying to position ourselves

see elisha was being faithful with the little that God had given him

the problem is though that too many of us spend a lifetime chasing after the moment that we actually miss god

we are being good stewards and faithful to what God has given us

not to understand that what was given to us was part of the test to see if we would ever be ready for more

See the bible says do not despise small beginnings

But if its not big and extravegant many of us think that its not God

But elisha was in the right place at the right tim

i mean think about it

how many times has God tried to get you but you were positioned incorrectly

And it is when we are to busy chasing the dream and not the creator that we get mis-positioned

God is looking for those that steward what they currently have now before he promotes them into more levels of his Glory

see now thatll preach

The truth is that many people seek after the promotion and not the promoter

and this God actually withholds from them that very thing that they seek

now follow me

he doesnt do this to be mean

but for protection

i mean what father will give his son a stone if asked for a fish?

see the truth is that the lack of stewardship shows that they are ill prepared for greater

- See you father wont give you what has the potential of hurting you

now in my eyes that is one of the greatest qualities of a loving father

So don’t rush the process

because if you rush the process you could be setting yourself up for a tragic downfall

see in those moment is when your character and integrity is developed

it is in those moments that the God inside you gorws

the christlikeness grows

the godliness inside you grows

the holiness grows

these things will cultivate

thus allowing you to be able to handle the more

i know that this is going to go over somebodies head, but the trials and tribulation that you endure are not to break you but make you.

And so it is in this season that God is gauging your preparedness for more

So you say:

God called me to be a prophet to the nations

he called me to be an apostle to the nations

well maybe so

and we will see that in the fruit

and there is a thing called being a good steward

So dont jump the gun

dont uproot your existence or do something radical if you are not in-tune with the author and creator of the moment

You must know the time and the season of the author

you must know the chapter and the story line of the author

i mena he wrote the book right?

and you wouldnt play a board game like chess without all the pieces

Just know that your immediate and rapid response belong to god

so make sure that you are properly aligned to hear his voice

because he will reveal the specifics

hell reveal the blueprint

hell give you directions and his spirit will lead you

Psalm 37:23 ESV

The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way;

because it is when we chase the moment and go our own way that we miss god.

Elisha didnt wait

he ran after his moment

see we can also miss god when we think to much

we will talk ourselves out of something

we will miss god when we go ahead of god

see the bottom line is that there needs to be balance

and you have to be in-tune with the voice so you can get proper instructions

So run after and not over your moment

and in that moment are times and seasons

make sure that you are properly aligned with the author of the moment

cause if you run past the time and season of that moment

you will miss god completely

So we must run after our moment when we recognize the moment

most of us miss our moment because of specific reasons or another

good news is that there will be another

for there is an ordained moment for the time that you commit your ever dying love to the father your creator

and so you must understand that you were created or a purpose with a purpose

and to know your purpose you must know your creators reason

you must know the God of purpose

See it was when your father created you that he had a plan

he had a purpose

and it was his will, his purpose that power and potential both intersect and meet

that through creation that he share of himself

thus the birth of the fathers creative mind

he is a creative god

he is a strategic god

so understand that nothing just happened

and just a side note, that throws the gib bang theory out of the window

God created you with a purpose and on purpose

and when elijah threw his mantle on elisha it was ordained and purposeful

And elisha didnt miss his moment becuase he recognized what was happening

i mean maybe not immediately,

but he did non the less

and when he did, he RAN after his moment

He ran after the father in heaven because his spirit knew what was entailed in that promise.

so stop focusing on the moment but focus on the creator

be a good steward of what you have already be given

and when your moment arises

sieze it

because ones moment has the potential to thrust them and propel them forward

because as the father sees that he can give you more he will

so stop cursing your troubles and start blessing your future

numbers

Numbers 4:24–26 ESV

This is the service of the clans of the Gershonites, in serving and bearing burdens: they shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the tent of meeting with its covering and the covering of goatskin that is on top of it and the screen for the entrance of the tent of meeting and the hangings of the court and the screen for the entrance of the gate of the court that is around the tabernacle and the altar, and their cords and all the equipment for their service. And they shall do all that needs to be done with regard to them.

Numbers 6:24–26 ESV

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

Father, bless the tithe and the offering to expand your kingdom here on earth. And Bless the tither as he gives of his first fruits and offerings as you have promised in your word.
