2. Lights out at 8PM with manual flashlight

YOU/WE/ME

Some can make it all the way through; others stump their toe.
>> WE THINK WE CAN WALK IN THE DARKNESS. We might succeed for a little bit, but there comes a time when we stumble.
Here’s what you have to understand tonight >> You were never meant to walk in darkness. Jesus desires to transfer us to the light.
We were never meant to walk in darkness. Jesus desires to transfer us to the light.

GOD’S WORD

John 9:6–7 ESV
6 Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man’s eyes with the mud 7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.
John 9:6-
PRAY
Here’s a man that has mud on his eyes, walks without sight to a pool, get’s in, washes, and is healed.
At first glance we see a guy that obeys Jesus blindly. But, that’s not the case. In a dark situation, this man has the Light.
TRUTH: WHEN WE OBEY THE WORDS OF JESUS, WE STEP INTO THE LIGHT.
Jews in this day believed that sin directly caused suffering. Therefore, the ones who were “better off” did not experience suffering. If suffering was present, obviously that individual sinned. Jesus corrected the popular belief with declaring the blindness was preordained from God so that the works of God might be displayed in him. The sovereignty and majesty of God at work.

>> Jesus stepped into this man’s story from no where and acted.
Jesus saw his story
Blinded from birth
Walked in darkness, never physically seen the brightness of light
Jesus stepped in his story
“I am the light of the world”
Mud from dirt and spit (man came from the dust of the ground)
touched
Jesus intervened in his story
Touched his eyes and healed his sight
Man’s obedience to Jesus as the avenue to his healing
Jesus probably used the clay as an aid to develop the man’s faith, not as a medicine. Jesus’ making of clay broke the Rabbinic regulations against kneading clay on the Sabbath.
Q - What’s your “pool of Siloam?”
Before this man’s eyes were healed, he had to respond to Jesus’ words. That’s exactly what he did. He responded:
Physically walk and step down into a pool.
Emotionally trust the words of Jesus
THE MAN CAME BACK SEEING
TRUTH: WHEN WE OBEY THE WORDS OF JESUS, WE STEP INTO THE LIGHT.
Listen student, if you want change to happen in your life, part of the equation falls on you. Jesus offers it, but you have to be willing to take the next step in obedience to Jesus.

>> The rest of the story:
Pharisees get mad because Jesus curds mud on the Sabbath. If Jesus is from God he would know better. The Pharisees consult the man 3x to try to find fault in Jesus in the story. End up banning the man from the synagogue. Then Jesus finds him (Jesus is always present in the midst of opposition).
Then Jesus finds him.
John 9:35–38 ESV
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 He answered, “And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?” 37 Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.” 38 He said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
John 9:35-
Not only does this man receive his physical sight, but Jesus redeems his soul.
