Psalm 72 is a wonderful prayer for the Israelite king and his kingdom, which is so easily and clearly applied to Jesus, that it can well shape our own prayers for the ultimate King and his Kingdom. We pray that Jesus and his kingdom are righteous, enduring, universal, compassionate and divinely blessed. We pray that our King would come and his kingdom with him. We pray that it will happen as God instills those virtues in our leaders and ourselves today. And then we seek to live what we pray and pursue what we hope for.
