Genesis 1:1–5 (KJV 1900) *In the abeginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was bwithout form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, cLet there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided †the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. †And the evening and the morning were the first day.1 Genesis 1:14–18 (KJV 1900) 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide †the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God gmade two great lights; the greater light †to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to hrule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 2 Psalm 18:28 (KJV 1900) 28  For thou wilt lllight my ||candle: The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.3 Psalm 27:1 (KJV 1900) 1  The Lord is amy light and bmy salvation; cwhom shall I fear? The Lord is bthe strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?4 Psalm 119:105 (KJV 1900) NUN. 105  cThy word is a ||lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.5 Psalm 148:3 (KJV 1900) 3  Praise ye him, sun and moon: Praise him, all ye stars of light.6 Proverbs 4:18 (KJV 1900) 18  aBut the path of the just is bas the shining light, That shineth cmore and more unto the perfect day.7 Isaiah 5:20 (KJV 1900) 20  Woe unto them †that call evil good, and good evil; oThat put darkness for light, and light for darkness; That put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!8 Isaiah 13:9–11 (KJV 1900) 9  Behold, wthe day of the Lord cometh, Cruel both with xwrath and fierce anger, To lay the land desolate: And xxhe shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 10  For the stars of heaven and ythe constellations thereof shall not zgive their light: aThe sun shall be darkened in his going forth, And athe moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11  And I will bpunish the world for their evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; And I will ccause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, And will dlay low the haughtiness of the terrible.9 Matthew 24:28–30 (KJV 1900) 28 sFor wheresoever the sscarcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29 Immediately after the ttribulation of those days ushall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and wthe stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then xshall appear ythe sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall zall the tribes of zathe earth mourn, and they shall see bthe Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with bbpower and great glory. 10 John 1:3–5 (KJV 1900) 3 eAll things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 fIn him was life; and gthe life was the light of men. 5 And hthe light shineth in hdarkness; and the darkness icomprehended it not.11 John 3:18–20 (KJV 1900) 18 eHe that believeth on him is not condemned: fbut he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the bonly begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that glight is come into the world, and men loved hdarkness irather than light, iibecause their deeds were evil. 20 For jevery one that kdoeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be ||lreproved. 12 Matthew 5:13–15 (KJV 1900) 13 Ye are the salt of the earth: pbut if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 qYe are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men rlight a candle, and put it under ||a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 13 1 Peter 2:9–10 (KJV 1900) 9 But ye are ca chosen generation, da royal priesthood, ean holy nation, ||fa peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the ||gpraises of hhim who hath called you iout of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 kWhich in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.14 Philippians 2:14–16 (KJV 1900) 14 Do all things without pmurmurings and qdisputings: 15 That ye may be rblameless and ||harmless, sthe sons of God, twithout rebuke, uin the midst of a vcrooked and wperverse nation, among whom ||ye shine xas lights in the world; 16 Holding forth ythe word of life; that zI may rejoice in the day of Christ, that aI have not run in vain, neither aalaboured in vain. 15 2 Corinthians 4:5–7 (KJV 1900) 5 For swe preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and tourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, uwho commanded the light to shine out of darkness, †hath wshined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God xin the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in yearthen zvessels, athat the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 16 Acts 13:46–48 (KJV 1900) 46 Then Paul and Barnabas xwaxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should yfirst have been spoken to you: but zseeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves aunworthy of everlasting life, lo, bwe turn to the Gentiles. 47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, cI have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and das many as were ordained to eternal life believed. 17 Acts 26:18 (KJV 1900) 18 dTo open their eyes, and to turn them efrom darkness to light, and from the fpower of Satan unto God, that they may receive gforgiveness of sins, and hinheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. 18
