1 John 1:5-2:2 “How We Know God”

Why We Don’t

God is light without a hint of darkness (1 Timothy 6:16).

We have all sinned (Romans 3:10) and cannot deny that.

Our sin is the problem because darkness and light do not mix.

Holding on to the darkness means you have no place with God.

A Change

Confession means that are on the same page with God about what we’ve done.

When we confess, we experience God’s Forgiveness.

You can be sure of this because God never changes (Malachi 3:6).

God purifies us, removing what cause the separation.

The Hope

We cannot try to take advantage of God’s forgiveness.

We are motivated by grace to obey God.

All of this is can happen only because Jesus has paid the price for us.

Jesus is our hope and the hope of the whole world (John 1:29).
