- A Look at the Pharisee

Giving to the needy and those around us who need our help must be done in a way that seeks the glory if God. Alms means, mercy, pity, compassion. These things should be done in secret so as to avoid the appearance that we do them for man’s approval. otherwise we really just blowing our own horn.
Public oration, applause of the audience, sermon summarizations, and vain repetitions should not have place in our prayers to God. They are to focus on actually communicating with God in a simple, direct, and sincere way. The important thing to remember is that corporate prayer can in fact be done in a God honoring way.
The prayer fringes of the prayer shawls the pharisees wore were used to keep track of how many prayers were recited.
God is commanding that we watch the affections of our hearts carefully to make sure they aren’t centered on physical possessions that are of little or no use in our work for the Lord. Not only can we be always counting how many of our treasures and possessions we have gained, but also the amount of treasure or possessions we are to give as God calls. Our God is a giver, hence you’re life, your job you have know, your ability to pursue an education, your privilege to live in Wisconsin.
Are you always too busy watching what resources they were currently gaining? What resources are you reluctantly and stingily giving up to God?
